I'm claiming 35k value, 50/100 across the board, and 25 for property damage. 0 deduct for non collision and 500$ for collision. It's @ 115$ a month

[QUOTE=Aqua Blue RS/SS;11224313]Hell yea I did, knocked my monthly insurance bill with geico almost in half.
/QUOTE] Good to know! I actually don't have much concern over coverage amounts. I am just anti-insurance as a matter of principal and so the less I can pay, the better. I think government mandated auto insurance was institued primarily to benefit insurance companies and the legislators they backed, that passed this requirement back when I was about 16 years old. If I am going to take the risk to drive my cars on the road, then I should be able to decide if I want to pay for insurance. If I decide to not buy insurance that's on me. I know I sound like the odd man out here, but my position is solid. If I am concerned about the risk of someone uninsured hitting me, then it should be on me to make the decision to buy uninsured motorist protection. This should not be mandated by government or by insurance companies that make hefty donations to political parties in order to keep this charade going. |

You took the risk - why shouldn't you pay for taking it? On the flip side, there is always civil court. That's why we have them. Why should I pay for you taking the risk? Should I also pay for your home owner's insurance? You know, in case my fat ass combined with yours, falls through the porch?

[QUOTE=Aqua Blue RS/SS;11224481]The problem with that scenario (I'm not saying you) that a lot of people out there don't have bodily injury high enough on their insurance and their health insurance won't cover your accident related bills because you choose to not wear your seat belt. Then WHO pays for your stupid decision not to wear your seat belt.

I realize there is a segment that falls under the radar who don't have an ability to pay, I get that. That's why we pay taxes - to catch those folks with medicaid or whatever state health plan they have. |

Now if you have a complaint about medicare or medicaid or whatever state health plan you have where you're at, that's a different matter. However, we're getting off topic here, I think. I am still against the idea of mandated/forced auto insurance. Grin! |

YOU damaged my car YOU pay to fix it. If you can’t that’s why you have insurance. If you didn’t have any and can’t come up with $20k, why is that MY problem? |

As for the uninsured with no licenses, that's why YOU should be able choose to have uninsured motorist insurance. If you choose not to buy it, that's on you. The government shouldn't be forcing you to buy a product you may not want. Take the crash up in civil court. That's why we have them. Financed cars of course are a different matter. Finance companies can dictate whatever they want and if you disagree, you have the right to shop somewhere else. |

I understand risk and personal responsibility fine. I’ve been in law enforcement for 27+ years and I’m a veteran. The issue is that’s it’s not my risk sitting at a red light when you are on your phone and plow into me. That’s a risk you took by breaking the law. You caused me harm, you took your risks, and you are responsible for making me whole. That’s the sad reality of why we need insurance because people can’t cover their mistakes and making the victim pay is wrong on so many levels. |
