I forgot to add on the original post, I did replace the cam retainer plate and torqued it to factory spec per all data just like everything else. doubled and triple checked everything. I did put in a new gm oil pump, got it when I ordered the cam from Texas speed. I see what you guys are saying about the cam journals but the vehicle did not have any oil pressures issues prior to the install and the cam came out smoothly and went in the same.
Sounds like you are making some progress, one issue with the cam journals is that the new cam could have very slightly undersized journals which in combination with slightly worn bearings causes them to have a slight leak. It only take a few thousandths here and there to cause problems. Hopefully that pickup tube O ring fixes your problems.

Curious if you still have the PRV in the pan.

Since you removing your oil pan you might want take a look at the pressure relief on the oil pan. It should be on the left side of the pan with a spray shield. My ls3 had it and I used a plug instead to delete the relief valve. Also did your pump come with two orings. I know mines did but it was a Melling pump and there was some instructions on which one to use..By any chance do you still have the old oring to compare the size with the new one. Dropping the oil pan is a real pita. I had to remove the lower motor nuts and jack up the motor from the front of the bell housing to get enough clearance to remove the pan. Any way good luck.

Can't beat that! I've seen guys chase low oil pressure for weeks to find in the end a cam bearing has walked under high spring pressures.

Good job! I'm gonna say that you can never go wrong with the consensus of the Camaro 5 members.

That is great news! It is always nice to see a good outcome. Thank yourself for quick thinking & keeping the rpm's up.
