I would agree as far as the Passport and V1, can't vouch for the others. The falsing problem that I mentioned with the V1 is primary from it picking cheap radar detectors. Having a cheap detector is like hanging out a flag that says, "over here officer."

Regardless of the detector technology or user interface, avoiding tickets often boils down to reasonable and prundent speed for the situation. Granted, the driver's opinion of reasonable and prundent speed may differ from the posted speed. I use a detector as a reminder to check speed since my foot has a mind of it's own.

V1 V1 V1 V1 V1 V1..... ok 9500 for city driving, but V1 for highway / back-roads which is where you actually need a detector! I am not a camaro expert yet, but I can attest with my other cars the v1 is the only way to go. The arrows are no joke and having rear detection is honestly like getting 2 radar detectors for the price of one!

the V1 can be programmed to illuminate a lot of the falsing. I've got X band turned off on mine (NO police around here still use it), and that's helped a lot.

There's a lot of good programming tips on http://www.radardetector.net

Rear detection? Unless I am mistaken they all do that... well at least the good ones do. All by Beltronics do, quite well I might add.

This is my mirror!

It almost makes me want to dig the V1 out of the closet, stuff it inside the rear spoiler and install one of these mirrors. Well, almost...
So when I got my first ticket I decided to get a radar detector. I did some research about stealth installs since I didn't want a bulky radar detector on the dash and found that v1 work best radar wise and also with being stealth with their remote display and controls. Of course no one had attempted this in the camaro yet so I decided to figure it out myself. In my search for stealth install I stumbled across stealthmirrors.com. I had messaged Chris, the owner of Stealth Mirrors, and asked if it was possible to make a stealth mirror for my camaro. He asked me to find a mirror on ebay and luckily there was one. He bought it and started to go to work. He then tooks some pics and a video of it working and posted it up on his website and then he shipped my mirror and I started to figure out the install. Here's a couple pics of the mirror after install. Once I figure out how to make my own post I'll post up a complete install guide. Feel free to contact me with questions and I'll try and get this post up by the end of this next week.
Pic of the front of the mirror:

Side view of the mirror: only cord but you can't even see it unless you look at it from the side which you never do.

This really is one awesome install and everything is completely stealth. I even have a nob down by the ignition to control the volume and on/off power down by the ignition. Like I said once I figure out how to make my own post I'll put up a complete guide on how and what I did, include where the v1 is hidden and where I ran the wires and how I connected it all.

Hid the V1 unit in the headliner with minimal radar detection loss if any.

I hid the v1 up in the headliner. It fit perfectly and detection still works amazingly. It's saved my butt quite a few times. With it being in the headliner there's no laser detection, but laser detection is useless anyway. For one the laser has to actually hit the detector for it to go off, not likely since they aim at the license plate, and by the time your detector tells you that you've been lasered they already have your speed. That's why my next project is to install the laser interceptors. Like I said above once I figure out how to put up a thread, I'll have a complete DIY guide on how I installed and where I put the V1 unit and wires to the power, stealth mirror and the remote audio control knob. It's actually not all that hard to do. Just time consuming.

I went with the Passport 9500 xi, the thing works great. I love the fact that it learns and eliminates false signals by saving the gps location. I have it installed so that you can't hardly see any cables, but I still have the detector on my window.

No on dash radar detectors do true rear detection. If you get the sensors that close to each other it would constantly be going off. They are just sensitive enough to pick up rear as well. The biggest difference in the V1 is its filtering system that tells you which direction it thinks its coming from based on the signal intensity. The only way to have true front and rear is the stealth in dash units with front and rear bumper mounted sensors. I always run the K40 Calibre system you can check them out here:

I purchased a Beltronics 995 when Circuit City was going out of business about 2 years ago. For the most part it was sitting in the glove compartment. Then after I got my Camaro I hardwired the Detector and used it for about 4 months. Then all of a sudden I started getting needs service errors. First it was intermittent and then it would not work at all and just kept getting the error. Thinking it might be the homemade hardwire I tried it in my truck with the supplied cord and still kept getting the error. Well called tech support and being that its over 1 year old it will cost me $59 to have it sent in to get it fixed.
Then looking around I saw that Escort has a trade-in program (so doe’s beltronics) with an $80 credit back once they get the old detector. Waiting for my new PASSPORT 9500IX in the Mail.
After only 4 months of use the detector breaking and having to pay $59 on top of that left a bad taste in my mouth for Beltronics.
