Hey Guys,...

I found out Yesterday that I didnt Pay 1800.00 for my Extended Warranty.

I paid $1400.00 for the Extended Bumper to Bumper Warranty so although I didnt get it for $500 or even $800 I feel a lot better knowing that I paid $400 less than what I thought I paid.

The Financial Manager that sold me the Warranty at Estero Bay Chevrolet said that he doesnt know who is selling Warranties for the Camaro for $500 or $800 but that there is No Way that it's the Same Bumper to Bumper Warranty good in the whole United States that GM Offers and advised me to Stay Away from anyone who says that they are.

So even though I was never disappointed that I bought an Extended Warranty, I feel better knowing now I didnt pay $1800 for it like I though I did.

Personally,... I would Recommend the Extended Bumper to Bumper Warranty to anyone buying a New Camaro that Plans on Keeping it longer than 3 years, I myself dont ever plan on getting rid of it period unless I can get a Super Deal on the 2011 or 2012 Trans Am that is hopefully coming out.

Nothing wrong with getting insurance. I'm insurance poor, however I've used extended warranty on almost every vehicle I've ever bought. Last time on Chevy 98 Chevy z-71 p/u replaced transmission at 91,000 miles. Sure am glad I bought that 400 dollar extended warranty. Purchased 8 yr bumper to bumper on camaro with I belive it was 60,000 miles. Don't plan on driving it that many miles in 8 yrs anyway. Its not the daily driver. Got a charger, truck, and a co-truck.The powertrain good for 100,000 which is major cost. so factory warranties ok. But spread out over 8 yrs bet it get used more than once and will more than pay fot itself.

The factory 100,000 mile warranty is for the powertrain. Bumper to bumper is still only 36,000 miles.

Just like car insurance it's peace of mind. Sure you can add it later, but why have two payments. You can always negotiate the price of the extended warranty. Plus make sure it's the GMPP and not some other one that has a deductible. My GMPP is "Major Guard" with zero deductible. My cousins got it from a third party that was cheaper but they have to pay a $100 each time they take it in.

Do you realize how wuch stuff you can pay for with $2,250.00? You are betting on something breaking that will cost more than $2,250.00 after your warranty expires in 3 or 5 years. Lets say that a $2,500.00 part breaks, you will win $250.00 and that's if there is no deductable. Are these new Camaros pieces of crap that cannot be trusted not to self destruct? If that is the case then what the f#$k are we buying them for. I think that they are well built, quality autombiles and I will take the other wager. I am betting that I will come out ahead by not getting the extended warranty. I did this with my last three Camaros and I am way ahead of the game. Most defects in workmanship are discovered long before the original warranty is expired. When I had catalytic converter problems on my gen 4 SS I was out of the warranty and GM replaced both of them at no cost and extended the emmissions warranty for free for an additional 4 years.

You better take a look at the fine print of your Warranty contract... Lots of times they will have exclusions or you need to document all the maintenance on the car and they require stricter maintenance than the factory does.. and if you do not use their maintenance schedule you can forget about getting your claim accepted.. When I bought my Sunfire used I checked on many of these warranties and believe me they have some ridiculous requirements on some of them....

Just a warning to read ALL the contract before buying ANY extended warranty.

Well I guess I am a sucker because I got the extended warranty, 7 yrs 100000 miles, plus tire and wheel hazard as well as interior hazard. Covers my car bumper to bumper for 100000 miles or 7 years. It also covers the tires and wheels, plus the interior if the leather gets punctured or something tears up. I paid 1524.00 plus 3 free oil changes.

I figured that this being a first year model I would rather be safe than sorry, so for everything out the door I paid 38500.00 for a 2 SS M6, RJT. The also wrote on my warranty papers that it would cover the GM accessories that I wanted but could not purchase because they were not available yet, exhaust, headers etc... so I figured I made out pretty good.

Mixed emotions re: Extended Warranty

Several years go I had one on my daughters Jetta. It was aftermarket not dealer and everytime the dealer used it the car would sit there for at least a day until the dealer got authorization from the aftermarket company.
OTH, I got a GM emploee pricing one on my GMC Envoy. After 50K miles with no repairs, just routine maintenance, (despite fairly serious off road use), I just had two sensors/computer chips go out (heater, and headlight sensors) and the warranty is near to paying for itself with 10k miles and a year to go.
The best warranty I've ever had was a 10 year, 100,000 mile bumper to bumper on my 99 Passat. The car had numerous issues but everything except belts hoses, and brake pads were covered. 99 was the first year for the new Passat so they were really generous on the warranty as we owners were their lab rats. I think GM should have done womething similar on the 2010 Camaros. Builds great customer loyalty. That said I'm replacing the Passat with a Camaro so I guess my loyalty is limited

I talked to the Finance Manager again a while back,... I asked him if the Extended Warranty that I purchased for the Wheels and Tires if it would cover Other Wheels and Tires that I might by later on down the road and his words were "Yes it would, Thats the Beauty of it also."

I've been looking at different Wheels and possibly other tires for my 2SS so hearing that makes me even more glad that I purchased that extended warranty.

Even though the Chevy Camaro is a Great car thus far,... With the kind of luck that I have, I'm betting that something will go wrong with the car and I'll be glad that I bought it. I dont see myself as a Sucker at all, I think the people who dont have the Extended Warranty will be the Suckers sooner or later,...

Extended warranty isn't a bad option. It's a gamble, just like insurance is. I've never been in an accident or needed to use car insurance for anything in 12 years of driving. Saying you can save yourself 1800 bucks now is the same as putting "liability only" on a car you're not required to. You might not use it, but if/when you do, you'll probably thank yourself. Car doesn't need to be a piece of crap for a random manufacturing defect. My last car, I got to take advantage of it to replace a sunroof motor. That paid for the extended warranty on it's own

I got one with the Pontiac Grand am I bought back in 03, and it worked out well, I had a 50 dollar deductable but I had an ignition cylinder go bad twice and a couple other smaller things and I easily got my money back and saved some. not sure this is always the case but it worked for me. if your keeping it for 5+ years or longer and well past the 3 year warrenty it makes a lot of sense. and if you trust your dealer service department then it can be a good idea. where I bought it at was over an hour and a half away and it was a third party one but my local dealer about 15 minutes down the road accepted it and it always seemed to work out fine.
