I'm waiting to see some actual numbers before making a decision.

I am waiting on the Vararam. Its based off the Pontiac G8 version they offer, and looks very promising. Combined with a tune, that intake has the potential to be ridiculous.

AIRRAID is nice construction and all, but I have the same issue with it that scrming and mlee have described, its open air. Thats not a true CAI. For it to be a CAI, the filter has to be sealed from the engine compartment. Usually it has been done by snaking the filter out of the engine bay down to almost infront of the driver side wheel well.

The Vararam unit looks like it will take air straight from the radiator and pump it straight into the throttle body. Its almost like an inductions sytem.

The Airaid is a great Intake system. If you are looking for an Affordable Cold Air Induction then wait for the BBK when it ships to us dealers in 3 weeks.

I can't remember but I believe 97one has done a lot of 0-60 runs, and while the time itself may not be accurate, the results have been very consistent... and if I remember correctly the MRT showed and improvement in his 0-60 runs while the Airaid did not...

Also I did dyno the MRT setup and I have seen some gains...
Yes........This is what I found:
I have done 41: 0-60 runs w/my Matrix ( Stock, w/MRT Ver.1 Exhaust, & W/ Airaid & MRT ) I have them all recorded on a chart. With the DA & all other factors listed.
There are other members using the Matrix: saying it is consistent but not 100% accurate.

After installing the Airaid I did 15: 0-60mph runs. w/my Matrix.
I used the Drag Times calculator to get the DA for each run.(with Temp.,Humidity, Alt., & Bar.Presure)
The Matrix is a great tool for Comparison it is very consistent, but not 100% accurate. I found it to be off by app.2mph @60mph

My tests show I did NOT HAVE ANY GAIN in times from the AIRAID Intake !

I got all my gains with my MRT axle-back Exhaust.(which I did First) 5.02 was by best run, that was with a DA of MINUS 337ft.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE:......... I read somewhere in a Thread that you will gain X with a Exhaust Mod. alone.
OR gain X with a Intake Mod.alone.
But you will NOT gain 2X with the 2 Mods.
For Example: X= 2 tenths. Sec. on 0-60 runs.
So you could only gain 2 tenths & NOT 4 tenths..........

Bottom line: if you did the Airaid & NOT an Exhaust you may see some gains

I have seen the jannety test. so your basing everything off of one test that was performed? the best information that came from the test was installation time, construction and if they need tuning or not.

Both the new era and fast lane require tuning. That alone tells you they were not the best engineered kit.

The Airraid and the CAI were the top 2 best performing systems all around. if you can understand everything on that chart, then you can see that clearly.
Dude... I'm not bashing your CAI... It's an excellent choice and we can debate all day on whether it's true cold air or not. Definitely a top choice but still right behind ADM and CAI if you are talking no tune...

Again... you made an awsome choice...

Has Scott and MRT gotten along any further on their CAI attempt? I know there will be dyno runs when that one gets done, lol.

Someone needs to get after Jannetty and get them, or someone, to do an independant v6 CAI test. Right now, I'm leaning towards the Injen setup, BBK possibly and waiting to see what the Vararam and MRT set up is going to look like. Of course, after your testing, I'm wondering if just a tube with the factory box and good filter will yeild similiar results.

On the V6, I've only seen dyno sheets for Airaid and Injen. I wouldn't even consider buying something I haven't seen a dyno sheet for.

I got the airaid, and I have to say I love it!! I have been reading this forum for a long time and waiting for the right mods. I love the airaid whether it be the plecebo effect or not. It sounds amazing and IMO really feels like it added something......I hope this helps

manufacturers dyno sheets only.... while i'm not questioning Airaid's or Injen's integrity, my past experience is manufacturers dyno sheets are usually very "optimistic"... and i some cases a very blatant exaggeration... example an UD pulley that claimed some thing like 12 RWHP but multiple guys, including me, tested it and most we showed was around 4 RWHP... far cry from 12! So... like I said.. no offense... but i prefer independent testing...
