After like 20 posts FINALLY an answer....lmao Thanks.

It looks great and if it's anything like the LS7 Torquer that they used on their 427 build, then I'm all in.

Appears that particular cam has a streetable lobe and decent daily driver charactoristics.

But I'm def no cam pro so I wanted some more input without having to start another thread.

Thanks,
Ivan

City Chevrolet in Charlotte has much the same thing going except they will install the same supercharger as on the Vette, Kook exhaust, etc and do give a warranty for all the stuff they install and yes it is in writing - I checked. The hot cam and ASA cams are around $450 from GMPP, BTW, so that is $2000 in labor . Wife likes the idea of a hotter cam but after looking over lots of posts and dyno video of headers, CAI and exhaust combos, video of what the hot cam sounds like once installed and price tag for labor, I think I'll stick with LT ARH and ARH exhaust with the stock mufflers. Thanks again!

That is not a GM warranty but an aftermarket warranty and you pay extra for it. The original GM power train warranty becomes null and void as soon as you or the dealership modifies the engine with race cams and blowers.

Dealer Hot Cam Install

I am purchasing a 2011 1SS, the dealer said that they would install the Hot Cam. Does anyone know what kind of hp/torque gains this will give it versus the stock cam?

You all talk about the GMPP Hot cams for the LS3. What if any do they make for the L99?? Anyone know of a place to get a cam for my automatic??? Thanks in advance.

I ditched plans for the hotcam when Robin did a direct swap and gained only 9HP. It was posted in a GM tech mag. I can look it up if you want.

If you need to stay GM, go with the LS9 cam. There are alot of threads to read on it.

A lot of good info here and I will pass along a little more.

Most GM dealers will swap in GMPP parts and cover them under warranty. It is the programming that becomes the sticky part. And to run correctly, it will need a program. This is mainly due to the very low vaccum signal at the stock 550 RPM of the base program.

At 550 RPM, the Hot cam will be in the 70-75 kpa range, give or take. I have a scan of a Hot Cam in an otherwise stock LS3 at an idle of 750 and the kpa in right at 60 kpa.

If you look at a base GMPP program for a 376/480 crate engine (LS3 with a Hot cam), it has a base hot idle in neutral of 850+. At that idle the kpa should be in the 50-55 range.

This would not be my cam choice personally, but if dealing with a GM dealer and GMPP parts most likely the only choice.

We have a local dealer here I do tuning for and they do some SC installs as well as cams and such and they cover the cars under warranty, but it is covered by an aftermarket warranty and the company, not GM.

With that said, if they say they will cover it, be sure to get it in writing. Most likely it will run more then a typical shop install, but hence the warranty and well worth the cost if there is an issue.

Hope this data helps out a bit for ya.
