In Virginia it is only $10.00 more than what you would regularly pay.

That's why we have more vanity plates than any other state, according to my teenager,

In Missouri the annual license renewal is based on taxable HP and varies from $18-$51. Also is a $3.50 processing fee.

For personalized plates there is the original $15 application fee (paid one time when the plates are ordered), and $15 annual fee thereafter.

My U of MO plates also required a $25 donation to the University to obtain an "Emblem Use Authorization Statement". This is also a yearly fee.

So ......... total for a year is about $62 - $95 depending on taxable HP.

I was paying $86 per yr in IL for "personalized plates" (must have a number at the end for cars or at the beginning for trucks). They just upped the fee to $106 however. "Vanity" plates (no number) are going up to $112.

Wow, I'm sure glad I don't live where some of you do.

My personalized specialty plates are an extra $70/year on top of regular registration fees ($58.80 state, $10 county) for a total of $140'ish/year. $30 of that is for the "State of the Arts" plate and $40 is for the FUN44 personalization.

Sorry I know this is a little off topic, but how do you check to see if the phrase you want on your plate is available? I know the DMV has a form you fill out but I was wondering if I can call and check?
