WOW must have struck a nerve I was just simply explaining why the vette is the price it is and why the camaro is the price that it is. Forget that they share the same engine that doesn't matter when one is put together better then the other thats all I was explaining in response to you post about them still having the same engine. If you can't take a little friendly knowledge then I will do as you requested and not respond.

Camaro will always sale better because its made for the masses where as the vette isn't.. So to answer the question no the camaro isn't killing the vette sales.

OP, I think the vette is always going to be a more lighter faster car, as others have said, it's a different class of car, CLEARLY. Not to mention, it'll definately be faster than a supercharged Camaro if you mod the vette. Modding a vette omg,....let's not think about the amount of speed that thing would put out.

Yeah, I am sure the economy is partly to blame.

I've had three Corvette owners tell me they want a Camaro though

Well, I dunno, you'd have to look around, there are many aftermarket companies out there that mod new Camaros. But think about it, stock vs stock a vette is always gonna be faster than an Camaro SS. Even if you mod the SS with a supercharger putting out say 500RWhp,....the vette will still win! Yeah, it's sad but that's not enough to beat a vette. The vette is lighter and has a better horsepower to weight ratio. I'm just saying, if a corvette is beating a Camaro stock, if you mod a vette the Camaro would really stand no chance.

The only car I know that has a great chance at beating vettes are Hennessey HPE750s,AMD Performance 1,000 Hp Camaro, or Cassill's Camaro. All cars have a high amount of RWHP which would definitely make up for weight disadvantage. I especially love Hennessey's. I plan on sending my car there for they're hpe750 package. If you wanna beat a vette just to say you did, put a modded Camaro SS with a blower against the corvette grand sport which just has 430hp,....less at the wheels. Should be a good match-up.

Hey Mac, just for the simple fact that the Corvette uses a mostly fiberglass and composite metal frame, this pretty much says all you need to know why the car is much more expensive. It isn't just the weight difference, but the material as well. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I sincerely miss the composite metals on the Gen 4 Camaro and the sheet metal on the Gen 5 is little better than my Cobalt SS/SC. Not impressed with it's lasting power at all. GM can do many more fancy things with sheet metal to create attractive looks nowadays, but these cars are "dentastic." GM dropped the ball indeed. It's like having the most beautiful ice cream cake on the planet and then letting it sit in the sun for awhile. It just gets destroyed too damn easily.

Well I was going to get a Vette .. I had always wanted one but the new stlye just didn't do it for me(I like some of the older styles better) .. I was going to wait until the Camaro came out and boy Iam glad I did .. To me anyway the Camaro has much more Style.. another problem with the Vette is ground clearence ..I'd be ripping the front end up.. it's only a few inches from the ground..it something falls off on the road in front of you or you come up to speed bumps..ouch! and to get the same Engine for Thousands $ less .. Iam sold... So in my case the Camaro did hurt Vette sales .. I was thinking the same thing..because they used the 6.2 in the Camaro it would hurt the Vette sales .. at least there keeping in the GM family

Car is and feels A LOT lighter

I like the Camaro, but I love my Corvette.
Same here. Depends on how you load them up. My 09 Vert listed at 70k, but got it for around 60k. Different car indeed.
