One question I have, could you go back to the company that provided the tune/tuner and get re-embursed for the cost of the ECM or do they have a disclaimer that they are not responsible for any problems the tune/tuner may create?
I odn't have any hard feeings towards the dealer because they never did anything wrong through this process. I was upset with GM at first because I was told they were not going to send me my parts that I paid for, but then found out it was only because they were hard to find. It was just some miscommunication.

As far as the Tuner and the ECM. That is a sticky situation and here's why. The reason I paid for all of this is because I didn't want my warranty to be affected by my mods. Now I probably could have had this all covered under warranty, but to do so would mean that GM would have to send out their investigators to look at the car and decide whether or not the tune had anything to do with the initial malfunction. That would be extremely difficult and time consuming, so I chose not to go that route.

So the same applies to the tuner and the ECM. I'm sure I could contact the company that makes the tuner, or even Vortech (which I was in contact the whole time and I have nothing but good things to say about them, all the hard work they did getting me several new tunes and a new tuner to get my car back running, at no charge mind you) to have the ECM and install paid for. But to do so would mean that there would need to be proof that the tuner messed up the ECM. There was no way to do that because the ECM locked itself up, the only person to unlock it would be someone at GM. They wouldn't touch it because they have no reason to at that point, it has nothing to do with them. So the same situation applies, I would have to prove it was the tuner or the tune, with no easy way of doing that, and possibly no way at all of doing it. So I just paid. It wasn't that bad.

I knew what I was getting into when I bought a first year production car, and I knew what I was getting into when I began modifying it. I have no complaints at this point. Hopefully I won't have any in the future either

I just had this issue fixed in my car. There's 2 service bulletins related to it. It turns out, there was a wire connected to one of the wiring harnesses that had rubbed against another one and caused a nick in the insulation. They pull that wire out, reinsulate it and route it so that it doesn't rub. Took me almost a month to find it, but it was fixed under warranty (I have a supercharger on the car, but it wasn't the cause, so the warranty still stood.

If anyone is still having this issue, I can grab the actual SI document numbers. I just got back from the dealership and it looks like my car is fixed for good.

I'll have to have the dealership print it out again. I have pictures of the invoice from the dealership that I'll post momentarily.

So for all of you that had all these issues... is your car running okay now? The reason why I'm asking is bc my camaro is only 2 months old and within the past 3 days its been it the shop twice! The first time it didn't want to start and I had t have it towed to the dealership and they said that the programing got wiped from my key and my car threw itself in anti-theft mode.... how hell that happened.... they had no cue.... and of course 2 days later I get 5 codes.... WTF???? U0073 (x 3), P069E and P0700.

So I'm thinking there has got to be something wrong with the brain (the ECU). There is no way all these major things can all go bad all at the same time, but what do I know.... I'm just a girl!

Any advice????

Glad you got your car fixed. We have had ours for 18 months and 21,000 miles and so far haven't had any issues. Just regular oil changes. It has actually been the most trouble free first year car I have owned. And I have owned some doozies.....

Have you had your vehicle back in for these most recent codes at all? I'm very sorry to hear about how your vehicle is acting for you. If you would like I could get you setup with our Customer Assistance to help to work with you and your dealership in getting this resolved for you. If you could send me a message I can take care of it from there. Thank you for your time.

I have a similar problem going on right now.
For about a couple of weeks now every time I get in the car and get started the display tells me to open and close my window. After doing that the message stays on until I scroll thru the display using the menu button on the turn signal. The message then disappears until the next time I start it up.
Last weekend I pulled in my garage and five feet before I drove all the way in the motor stalled. I restarted and it stalled again. I tried again and it was dead. The windows would not roll down the dome light would not work. I got weird messages like service ABS and then Stability Control. Some times I would get a starter engagement but it would not turn over. Then it asked to replace turn signal bulbs in LR. and I wasn't trying left turn sig. when the message came on. After I tried the LH turn singal and it would blink real fast like the bulbs were burnt out. However when I put the emergency flasher on they would work.
I tried to start it again the next morning and it started with no problem. I tried the window and they worked I then tried the turn signals and it stalled and every thing died again and wouldn't start. WEIRD SHIT!
After that it just wouldn't do anything.
I had it towed to the dealer and when the service tech got in it started right up and he drove it inside. This shit happens every time I have a problem it seems, when I get it to the dealer they cant replicate it.
They did find five different code in the BCM (body control module) so they are going to replace it.
I will update this thread when I get it back Thursday.

Update: Turned out it was a bad BCM and it was warranted

Why don't you just tell them that you are taking the car as is, driving to SF without ABS, and if there is an accident, you'll be turning over to your lawyer the facts that you tried to get GM to fix it and they (GM) refused to sell you the part. Get documentation from them.

That should make them think a little before letting you drive off.

Check the battery voltage with car off and with car running as well as a load test. Low voltage can cause communication errors and strange things happen to numerous systems. Check the ground as well. Good luck!
