I bet some of the folks from the Camaro Club of the Rockies would have good suggestions. Colorado's full of bike nuts. Nothing wrong with wanting to drive something fun to & from the trail head! My dad's one of those folks, always has his bike rack hooked to the trunk of his new Audi within a week of buying it.

If they come out with a decent trunk mounted rack I'm there. Honestly don't get the animosity towards a bike rack on a Camaro. What better way to get to where you're going to ride?

That is really kind of my point Patrick!!!

There is nothing wrong with taking a mountain or road bike on a truck or on the back of a sedan, BUT I AM SO INSPIRED MY THE CAMARO I WANT TO TAKE IT!!!!!!!

I can't imagine anything more inspiring than cranking some Led Zeppelin, especially "Whole Lotta Love" or "Boogie With Stu" to get amped up for a great ride!!!!!

When you are going on a bike ride and it is cold outside, or even nice, you wanna be inspired when you get to your destination. The Camaro is so much fun, it pumps you up and gets you stoked to ride!!!!!!

And when I get back from my exhilarating ride, I wanna be inspired again. It's kind of like having a beautiful, happy, super-model waiting for you with a big smile on her face.

I don't think it is any less practical to have bikes on a new Camaro SS than that 1969 Chevy ad with Jean-Claude Killy taking some hottie skiing in a Convertible 69 Camaro SS with the top down and skis on a ski rack on the back of the car. A Sports Car is supposed to be sporty.

To the lame haters; seriously, give me a break!?!?!?!

Do you really think I would be disrespectful and scratch a car that does not belong to me!?!?!?!?!?!?!

For whatever it is worth, I was so excited when I stumbled into the seeing the Camaro for the first time, that I put my bike down and took a photo. Then I decided to (Very CAREFULLY) lean my bike against the Camaro and take the pick because I was so inspired.

(If you knew anything about mountain bikes you would realize it was every bit of a privilege for that Camaro to be in the company of my custom-made Klein bike which was also make in North America).

You can't tell from the photo but the only part of the bike touching the car is my cushioned seat, which did not leave any kind of mark. I made certain that before I walked away from the Camaro after leaning my bike against it that it could not have fallen over. I am anything but a careless idiot!!!

I think the new Camaro is the best looking car I have ever seen and the way it drives blows my mind!!!!! I could not be more passionate and excited about the new Camaro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So uhmmm....
I've been doing a little research because I need to get my bike on my car. I'd never go with a roof rack on any vehicle. Maybe they're ok if you have road bikes but with mountain bikes, getting them on and off of that without scratching the roof repeatedly... I couldn't do it. Maybe I need bigger guns or something...

I tried to put my trunk rack on there while waiting for my other solution, and it doesn't work. You can't put a trunk rack on a camaro because there isn't enough of a lip to hook on to the trunk lid (up by the glass).

So really the only solution is a receiver rack. These are by far the easiest racks anyway. The issue is that all of the companies that make racks for the Camaro, they all hang so low that they will scrape a lot when you have the rack on there, and may even scrape speed bumps and things when there is nothing connected. I otherwise have no qualms about putting a receiver on my car. Every thread on the topic gets lots of flames, but hey I guess thats what flamers do, flame :-) ITS A CAR, GET OVER IT. I also do not store my Camaro in a garage, and I also drive it in the winter. It's a Camaro, it's not a Ferrari.

Anyway, I already bought my Thule T2 (the best receiver rack), in the 2" variety. I'm in the process of having a custom receiver made. I figure if I need it custom anyway, might as well make it a standard 2" instead of 1 1/4"
This is what I'm going for, a receiver that's high enough up that it won't ever scrape, but still well below the bumper. I'll just do a much nicer job of cutting the plastic.

That what I'd recommend. You can get good deals on used T2's on craigslist. I only paid $200 for mine, they run $400 new. And if you get one that's 1.25", you can just bolt it all up yourself nice and easy. If you live someplace where all the roads are nice and flat and smooth :-D

Like I just said, there no lip on the glass side of the trunk lid to hook the rack on it. The rubber seal goes right to the edge of the lid. It's the only car I've ever NOT been able to put this rack on. It even installed fine on my old RX-8s, and even fit over their spoilers. Still i'll be very happy to finally get a receiver rack, and not have to fight to get my bike on my car. Plus you should have seen the mess it made of my mazda's trunks and rear bumpers. This new rack will keep my camaro pristine. And I would assume the receiver rack also gives you less of a MPG hit.
