You say noone would want a color unless it was part of that edition. So what you are saying is noone would want this car because it isnt the transformers edition.

Okay - well ifyou're talking about a $30K car now, you're absolutely right, I don't think painting it will reduce the value of the actual car. But if you put $10K into it, I think the value of the car will remain very close to the $30K depending on demand. It may go up or down a little, but there is no way you will recooperate even close to what you put into it.

Second point you mentioned - I didn't mean to say anyone will not WANT the color, I was referring to economically - the car won't have any additional value to them, therefore the demand would be the same. I think anyone who would want a synergy green camaro would rather buy that edition camaro. The green is very symbolic - the special edition is what's worth the money, not the green paint.

Funny no one said that a repainted car, if done right, has the better paint job.

Factory paint is rarely if ever top quality.

That said...... I have noticed the paint on the camaros being higher quality than normal from a builder.

To properly repaint a vehicle would require about as much labor as a ground up resto. It's required to recolor all facets of the vehicle.

Possibly if it is not offered from the factory..... otherwise the buyer can buy another and pay to have them painted himself. First he has to locate a painter and hope he is good. Then leave the vehicle and have secondary transportation. yada yada yada.

That in itself is a value.

Its along the lines of everyone buying the heritage grills and painting them. So some it adds value, to others it doesnt. But you are going off topic with painting pieces versus the whole car.

She still won't get any more than book value for the car.
As far a the heritage grill or any other mod for that matter, on a new car I wouldn't pay any more. Dealers are about the only ones that can put mods on cars and charge more. Most of the time you don't get the money out of a mod. You do it because you want to. I know there are a select few that will pay more for a car than it's worth just because it has a mod, but those people are just throwing their money away. Go pay $8,000 to $10,000 for a paint job to recolor in green and see how much you get from the insurance company after it gets wrecked. You'll get the book value if your lucky.
If you are insured through a regular insurance company yes. Go insure it through Hagarty and you will get more than book value for any mods or paint you do, its part of their policy. I would be glad to show you a copy of my policy through them if you dont believe me.

lol

If you want your SS green, then get it painted green. If you're more worried about resale value than what you want to do with YOUR car then don't get it painted. simple as that.
