Anyone heard if K&N has one in development or out yet? Anyway, thanks again. You are a great contributer to this forum and I have respect for what you have to say.

Actually...

You don't give up your washer bottle... you get a new one from Injen...

It's just that you can't install the Airaid with the Injen washer bottle...

As for the Injen filter placement... yeah, i was nervous too! In fact I drove home last Saturday in some HEAVY rain! And I drove in rain and SNOW this morning on the way to the dyno... So i've driven a couple of hundred miles in some heavier rain... Yet the filter looked like new! No evidence of any road grime or splashes getting on the filter. Here it was the other day after a couple of days of driving in the rain:

Now that being said I did put a Hydro-shield on today... LOL

Also, based on my datalogs and mmrays13, the Injen retains the stock A/F, while the Airaid shifts the A/F to be a bit leaner. I observed the A/F shift in my car, as well as Airaid showing an A/F shift on their test car... So in this case it appears the Airaid itself is causing the A/F shift (leaner).
Speaking of the headers and stock cats, talked to a guy at the track today, seems I might be a bit too free flowing, lol. So a resonated x-pipe will find it's way unto my car soon.

Yep, according to the data logs I sent to Vince, the Injen didn't shift the AFR much at all, if any at all. It was so close, that no further tune tweaking was warranted.

Yep, see above, lol. Now, I will say this, you have a bit more backpressure, so tht might affect it a little, but I think you are correct in your statement.

No. Is there a gain? Dyno and performance runs seem to back that up. 16rwhp? I doubt it. I think 5-7 can be expected.

scrming, thanks for taking the time out today to do this bro!! Mucho appreciated by everyone, I'm sure!!

I think it might be a bit overstated... Also noticed that their 16 HP gain was not at peak but more like at 5200 RPM... Now I showed very little HP gain in that area. HOWEVER.. if you look at my IAT sheet you can see that the IAT relocation showed a nice gain in the 5200 RPM range...

My IAT relocation dyno:

See the fairly big gain in the 5200 RPM range? So I'm guessing with the Injen you would have seen this gain if the baseline had been using the stock IAT.

Wow, the pic I saw of the bottle in earlier post did not look that big, and that is amazing about the filter! Thanks.

The Injen water bottle holds a gallon easy! It's big, lol.

The only time I have seen wate on my Injen filter is after high pressure car wash, lol!! Otherwise, dry, just like scrming!

Hmm.......since I have the stock air box and IAT location, I should get close to Injen's claim then...

I really thought both CAI would be close to each other give or take a hp or so. Well.... A Injen it is then. Thx for posting up your results. I

Wisser sums it up nicely. I too have been extremely interested in a CAI system. Just was never sure of which one. But I have every system out there's web site saved as a favorite, along with listing these on my wish list spread sheet. With all the good advice from those who have posted on this subject, I can now start shortening my list. This is one purchase I will make after I have my Camaro in my driveway. I am in no hurray as I wait for some more results for other systems.

Thank - you again goes out to SCRMING for all his efforts in helping our group understand the gains or not from these two systems.

I guess I'll be using the Airaid for car shows only. It looks better then the stock intake.

I'm sure Airaid makes good products and things usually work as planned. I think this LLT engine has been a nightmare for many manufactures. It seems to be very well built and GM is getting just about everything they can out of it from the factory. This is why we don't and probably won't see very many things for the engine aftermarket wise. Which is fine with me, that way I can spend my money on other things like wheels and such.

I hope after all of this Airaid will go back to the drawing board and come up with a replacement intake tube that actually increases rwhp, make it a free upgrade to those that have dished out the 300 bucks already. If not, I'll look into returning it and they shouldn't have a issue with that.

Thanks scrming for all you do and the way you try to be as fair as possible.

wow. I could live with 0 to some gains from the Airaid. But I guess the shifted AFR doesn't do this engine any favors. Looks like my Airaid is going back.

Thanks for the additional test data Scrming!

I know what you are talking about.... can't remember the best solution... How about an EZ Out? Check with your local hardware store for an EZ Out / Damaged screw extractor...

Are you guys going to send it back to the retailer or to Airaid directly? I'd love to hear if you are able to get your money back.

John - Thanks for all the time and effort you have put into this. As I told you before I was shocked that they would send you a unit to test. They did step up to the plate by doing that. Not sure what they are going to do for us that spent around $300 on this unit. I have my guess. That would be nothing. I really can't wait to see the reply. I also really hope this thread does not take a bad turn like the others did.

This is very interesting and a little unfortunate for those who bought the Airaid. However, I am impressed with the Injen, but I too worry a bit about putting it so close to the ground. For now I'm going to sit and watch what unfolds. Thanks Scrming, you did us all a service. And Kudos to Airaid for stepping up, even if it didn't quite turn out the way they may have hoped.
