you should ask yourself this.
Aside from the "ohhh i want a V8" factor, are you going to do anything with the car that will require the performance upgrades the SS trim lines feature? |

I test drove a v6. It is plenty fast. For most people, it is more power than you ever need. if you have no plans to race, and it's a DD, just get the V6.
That being said, do not drive a SS. If you do, you will buy one. |

Down the road, you'll probably be kicking yourself if you buy the V6 after driving the SS...

I am MORE than satisfied with my V6. Can't speak to the clutch issue cuz she's auto, but when I need the power, it's there, that's all I ask and she delivers IN SPADES!

There are other things to consider about the differences in the two cars other than just power.. cost of ownership for one.. Maintenance on the V8 is going to be more.. brakes and tires will be more expensive, Insurance will be more expensive.. and if you are tempted to use all that power a lot, gasoline will be much more expensive... So there is more to consider than just power...

I got the V6 because it was a better fit for me, The car is AWESOME and has a ton more HP than the Malibu i was driving. I commute with it and to boot im getting 21ish MPG Love IT!

Cost out the price of replacing tires on an SS or even the RS packages and you will get a suprise.

will own one in a year, have only test drove it but it is more than enough power for me. it is a blast to drive, that is what I was looking for. 304 HP and maybe a tad more when the new specs come out for the 2011 edition. that will do me fine :o)

Echo above, my V6 Man is on order. It was not a money issue. It will be a daily driver and will be fun as hell to drive regardless. (I also agree that if you say Man up and drive an automatic /snort! )
Dammit I hate status 1100! Start that factory up again! |

i would reccomend the V8. but if you want the V6, i would hold off and see what they are doing with the twin turbo LF3 engine, maybe it will end up in the camaro

A Camaro (V-6 or V-8) does not equal practical, it equals fun! That's why all of us love the Camaro, because it's a fun car. If you were going for practical, you'd buy a Chevy Malibu. I know when I placed my order for my Camaro it wasn’t because it was a practical decision.

Go for it, the V6 will be plenty of power and you will have the killer looks that all the camaros have. Even if you get the V8 there will somebody with a faster V8. On the street it's more than enough power. And if you are a regular drag racer then there are probably better options than the camaro as it's a pretty heavy car to begin with.
