I still have a 2002 E39 530...probably won't get rid of that car for a while (only has 49k miles)...it's just a good car...if not a little odd. Only option was sport pak...so it's a manual 5 series with no sunroof...I challenge you to find one like it! No woodgrain either...so solid black interior...everything is black except the headliner. It's certainly not fast...but but it's got that connected 'feel' to it.
OOOooo, that M3 sounds beastly! you should have gone to the BMW meet up in atlanta last april - we set the guiness world record for longest BMW convoy 272 i think the final # was. btw what color is ur 530i? i'll look for ya on the roads

That is truly priceless... I turned 16 in the winter (if you could call it that) of 1987. By that time I already had 2 years into the rebuild of my 69 that my step-dad had given me. By the time I was ready to drive it, it was my life, I knew only of girls and my car.

As much as I loved (and still do) my 6cyl coupe, I drooled over the 69 vert. I spent countless summers searching for one I could afford. Unfortunately it never happened. I drove that car every day until I got married and my daughter was born. At that point I realized that it just wasn't safe enough for her. Long story short. I went through a couple cars before deciding on the Evo (for the four doors). And that was it for cars for a while... until we went to see Transformers. Now at this point I knew of the concept, but with the limited information I had seen I was un-impressed. But when the Bumblebee morphed, I had the same feeling I did the first day I drove my 69. A little research later, I found my convertible that would bring back the feeling, and be safe enough for my daughter.

Man am I getting old or what...

we hear you - but frankly, Dr. Heinricy has been working on this car - as have been a number of 'enthusiasts' -- and I think you're going to be very pleasantly surprised by the "base" car----............

You and my Father both share the same type of story, except I helped find my Dads 69 Camaro in our auto shop. He had been looking for one since he was 16.

My Grandma promised to buy my Dad a car when he was old enough to drive. His aunt had a stock I-6 Camaro that was a beater but my Dad loved that car. Unfortunately his mom told him that the car was junk and would not buy it for him. His aunt needed the money so she sold the car. Then came along another 69 Camaro which a fireman was selling. My Dad got the money the next day but the fireman had sold it to somebody else for more money.

It was by luck that my auto shop teacher told me about the car. The guy who sold the car to us was a Mustang collector. He brought the Camaro in hopes of restoring it to sell it and get money to fix his 67 Mustang to look like a clone Eleanor. The money he used to buy the car was part of his tuition for school. His parents found out about it and made him sell the car. As soon as my teacher told me about it, we jumped on the idea of checking it out and buying it

My Dad feel like he's 16 all over again when he is in his 69 Camaro and to follow in his footsteps I would like the new 5th gen parked next to his 1st gen Camaro.
