Like I asked earlier, but I didn't see a reply to...I to was wondering if this is like the ASR we have in our 4th gens where we can just push the button and its off?

All I am worried about is the Damn SKIP SHIFT.

I will have my eliminator kit for it the day I drive my 'Maro off the lot.

I hated going from 1st to 4th in my 01 SS

I'm currently learning how to drive a manual. Can anyone explain what a Skip Shift is?

What exactly is that skip shift for? I've been drivin around a buddy's '00 TA for the last couple days and when i got the car i didnt even know about so called skip shift. It was annoying the hell out of me and at first i thought something was wrong. Does it kick in at certain rpm's or something? cause it only happens like once every 10 shifts coming outa first gear.

The skip shift in the 4th gen camaros and firebirds was a way that GM came up with to help the economy out in a way to reduce the usage of gas...When your in first gear and you are slowly but steadily climbing RPM's the computer would sense that climb and once the RPM's were high enough to shift, the car would lock out the 2nd and 3rd gears forcing you to shift into 4th...thus the skip shift is VERY annoying and should have never been created!!! hahaha

Assuming it's like most of these systems, it's not on/off- you have to reengage it for every take off. You typically have to hit a combination of buttons so the system is sure you want to do this (i.e. flip the esp button, then flip the tcs button, then reflip the esp button and it has to be done in order).

I'm sure someone will make it tunable through your ECM, but really- if you are that anal you'd be better off holding revs yourself. The engineers will decide the rpm point based on wherever they're testing and that may or may not match the conditions of the road you're on.

Tell your friend to purchase the skip shift eliminator...I know SLP makes one and I think someone else does I'm sure...And it doesn't hurt nor help the car at all, it just gets rid of that annoying feature designed and placed in the car...

ORrrr... if you were more aggressive with the throttle, it would turn off automatically. I think I'm planning on either tuning it our or seeing about an eliminator kit like I've had before. It's pretty annoying...

I liked the eliminator kit...quick and easy 5 min install for a very annoying feature...i wonder how long it'll take someone to develop this? It would be awesome to have it out upon release of the car, haha
