Plain and simple of all the car manufacturers GM has the best Military program when it comes to buying a car. Ford gives $500, not sure of Chrysler, and most of the imports don't offer anything for the military.

As a member of the US Military, this is my chance to say "Thank you" to GM for offering a program like this.

Edit: Chryslers program is $500 CASH ALLOWANCE, LUBE, OIL AND FILTER SERVICE FOR UP TO THREE YEARS
Certain models are available for employee pricing as well.

So I would rank the 3 programs this way.

1: GM
2: Chrysler
3: Ford

These dealerships are making me furious. I tried calling a new dealership today in Phoenix...

I asked about the military discount and they said they probably wouldn't offer it for the Camaro. I told him how it's GM's discount and they even show advertisements in military papers showing the GM military discount with a picture of the camaro. They said it's up to the manager to accept the discount.

I also asked if they are MSRP or lower, and he beat around the bush basically saying no they don't do MSRP or lower.

Where are all of these good dealerships and salesmen I hear about on these forums? Because I cannot find one in AZ!

Is this GM discount a mandatory thing? And is it straight from the factory or dealership lot only?

I would send an email to the local paper and let them know that they are not going to honor it. That is BS.

Take a road trip to Iowa or Wisc. Scotty and I both will honor Millitary Discounts.

A friend of mine stationed at Luke just outside of Phoenix called around and emailed around and he got this response from Sands Chevrolet in Glendale so this might work out for you Arizona guys.

The first few SS Camaro's will be at least at MSRP if not maybe a few thousand more but these are already people that have put a deposit down and are on our list. I highly doubt that we will sell them at invoice for the first few months but I plan on discounting them shortly after they come out. My father is in the USAF and he plans on purchasing one at the Military discount as long as GM has it on the car and I plan on purchasing one for myself this coming summer. If GM has your discount on the car I have no issues honoring that pricing. If GM does not put it on this car then I will sell it to you at or under MSRP, depending on the market for the car at the time that you purchase. Give me a call with any questions, 623-463-2950.

AWESOME. Thanks for that information. I'm also at Luke AFB, so that's good news. Although I don't like the 'few thousand' over MSRP... it's still better than what I've heard. I'll contact this dealership asap now.

thanks again.

I agree that I didn't like that part either, but at least they did say they would honor the military price if it is offered.

We should make a list similar to the MSRP and below thread of dealers who say they'll honor the GM Military Discount on the Camaro.

I was talking to the AAFES Military Sales Manager here at Osan, he said GM has not participated in the program since some time back in '04. That's a bummer because I wanted to pick up my 5th Gen through AAFES while I was stationed in Germany, and drive it on the Autobahn. Through the AAFES Military Sales program you would pay no sales tax, and they ship the car anywhere you want them to. They will even deliver it to you overseas. Ford and Chrysler both participate in this program, and I wish GM would also. As it stands, I am going to have to wait until I get back to the states in 2012 before I can get my 5th Gen. GM's Supplier pricing for military is a decent deal, but the AAFES program is so much better IMO.

Agreed. I had a guy here in Afghanistan quote me an 08 Mustang GT base for 22k. I'm fairly sure that can't be beaten. Were it that the I could buy a Camaro the same way...
