Assuming its an auto. Enough to still grab the shifter and still have another 2 fingers between.

How simple/difficult is installation on these units. I searched with no luck, is there an install thread?

thanks

It would not be a DIY job unless your good at what your doing. The instructions were not the best.

I thought the only hard part was the cutting needed behind the radio

Nah, from what everyone says, you got to know what you're doing with audio systems and electronics to make it work with all your equipment... and it takes time+effort as well.

curious?
I heard from an audio dealer here who called metra about the kit that everything was plug and play. He said you unplug all the factory plugs and they plug into the kit. He said all you need was the proper harness for your cd player or double din whatever and you hook that up just like any other car...

All you need for this kit to work is an FM adapter. It is plug and play but as stated there is a "small" amount of cutting on the inside of the dash. Also, the pre-programing of the steering controls takes time and patience. So, that is why I stated what I did.

I'm installing an AVIC Z110BT, will I bea able to use the factory microphone and the factory GPS antenna? Don't wanna have to add that stuff since it's already built into the car...
waiting on my metra kit to arrive before I tear into it..
