I plan on no more then $1600 shipped for rims alone. Now to just find some that I truely like and cleare the SS brakes is the problem.

With many choices to choose from now day's to customize your Camaro it seems that at some point a person would want to go different (Hence the reason to spend 5K on a set).
Makes sense to me to have something different and what you like at the same time. The problem i keep running into is i will find a design i like, but dont want to spend the 5K+ for the wheels, but at the same time if i have to spend that much and to get exactly what i want and can afford it, then so be it.

My approach at first was to go with a less expensive wheel so that im able to change to a different one a year later or so. But just like with everything else you buy in the world, you do get what you pay for. I dont want to have a SC car with a complete suspension package and put a set of cheap-made rims it that will cause my car to hit the wall at 100mph. After months of research on wheels you can easily get a set of good quality wheels for the price that Jproberts (post #3) mentioned above.
IMO piece and mind are worth $2500-$3500.

Of course, if you're into the exotic "spinners" and such you may not have a choice but to break the bank.

Just my opinion.
Same could be said for the car. There are reasonably priced alternatives to the Camaro. Why spend the extra cash?

TSW doesn't compare to a high end forged wheel, no matter how much you tell yourself it does.

My wheels are far from "spinners." I prefer a simple look but wanted a quality wheel. HRE made what I wanted so I spent the cash to make it happen...Guess you'd also think it's foolish for people to be putting 15-20k in a car so new, however if it makes you happy why not?

By no means am I saying that everyone should buy forged/expensive rims, however it's all personal preference. I prefer the quality and exclusivity that comes with the higher priced rims. I got the funds to support my decision so that's just a bonus

It's pretty tough to find a car with the performance of the Camaro SS for $35K.

As for TSW, by all accounts they look good, don't cause vibration, handle the stress and cost $300-$500/rim. They make it an easy decision IMO.

You may have a point on the weight, I'm not sure how much the TSW's weigh in relation to more expensive rims.

But hey, this is America (for now at least), you're free to put any wheel you want on your car! Hurry though, Obama's new fuel efficiency standards are going to render vehicles like the Camaro obsolete. Since he runs GM, they're likely the first to start transforming their product line into tiny little rice burners!

Please read this. Cheap wheels...kinda make your car look cheap too. If you don't notice, that is all that matters. Others do notice though. Wheels are THE most important visual aspect of any vehicle.

1.- Design
2.- 3 Piece wheels ( "easily" replace anything that gets damaged )
3.- Lighter
4.- Exclusivity
5.- More reliable in the case of an accident, barrels get bent instead of making a 3d puzzle rim.
6.- Custom made to my specs/liking
7.- Many more I can't think off right now.
8.- Because I can
I WANT YOU AS A CUSTOMER! Someone with realistic price expectations and the understanding of the custom wheel importance

It's kinda like everything in the car world, or any hobby for that matter.....

YOU GOTTA PAY TO PLAY.

I have little interest in different wheels, my car is a 6 month weekend toy and I can't justify to myself $5,000 for a set of wheels of tires. But, I can justify a $7,000 s/c.

It is all what you are into and what you place importance on. If somebody wanted to spend $20,000 on 36"s for their Camaro, have at it. Or the guys taking out brand new ls3s to replace with ls9s and ls7s.... Why? Because they want to.

OP, good luck on your search. And you get what you pay for. (Usually)

Or you can spend $5k on wheels AND get a $7k blower

Definitely well put, "you gotta pay to play."

Wheels make the car, why stop at the wheels when trying to have the "complete package."

I can't justify spending $4000-$5000 on wheels neither. Those 2/3pcs forged wheels sure are nice but they're too rich for my blood.

I'm looking to spend around $2000-$2500 for a set of decent quality, lightweight cast wheels in good size.

Wheels

OK, I just read this thread and i agree with all sides.

1.If you have the money to spend and there is a Forged wheel you like , then you should get it.

2.If you want to use your car for track, then do not go with 1 piece cast wheels becuase of the obvious weight gain.

3. If you just want a daily driver that will look good, then go with the less expensive cast wheels, there are plenty to choose from.

There are wheels for every person and every budget out there.
Shop around, compare apples to apples. Don't just buy a wheel because you see nice pictures from a photoshoot. Ask how they are made. You would be surprised to see that the most expensive wheel brands are made the same way and with the same materials as a not so known brands...

And above all, buy from a reputable company. One that can provide you with a safe wheel and Outstanding customer service !!!!

I kinda chuckle about replies trying to justify (or not) the expensive wheels on a $35K Camaro. Wheels have nothing to do with the relative cost of the vehicle. Wheels are still the most important visual aspect, regardless of vehicle cost. A car that costs $150,000 will still look like crap with ugly or low quality wheels on it. If you can afford to put top-quality wheels on your Camaro, why not do so? It is one of the only nice things you can add to a Camaro, that you can also add to a $150,000 car. You can add the ACR Viper wing and a Lambo nose on your Camaro too, but those won't look right or enhance the visuals like wheels would.

Also, the majority of the population would not be able to justify/afford a $35K Camaro as a toy. We should be grateful that we can be in this position to do so. If you maintain wheels properly, there is always a good resale market for nice custom wheels later on. You might even get half (or more) of your investment back later on.

Tony

Hey Nineball, on a different note here, don't mean to thread jack but if I switch from my stock rims to a good 3 piece wheel should I have any worries if I add a SC, can the additiobal low end touque be a problem for a 3 piece wheel as oppossed to the stock rim?

The wheels I am adding are Iconz 630ZR's. Just wondering.

Forged wheels are stronger than the factory wheels, lighter too. Think about it, all of those high-powered modified cars don't roll around on factory wheels. Neither do top fuel dragsters - they use 3-piece forged wheels with 5,000+ hp
