I would explain the sound more as a 'tuck tuck tuck' sound. I actually like it. The thing that gets me is why we even have turn signal sounds. It used to be a by-product of the relay. Now that we don't have the relay sound, it seems silly to have a sound at all.

The only thing that you will have to get is an adapter for the am/fm antenna. At least that was my case because I put in a Pioneer that had the traditional style antenna connector and the camaro has the European style antenna connector. Everything else comes with the metra kit

John,

Can you use your steering wheel controls to change songs on your iPod (while it is connected with the "pioneer usb cable") ?

I'm asking because I have a 1LT and want to buy the Metra Kit. I've added the steering wheel controls - but not the PDIM module because I want to use the pioneers usb connection.

Thanks

Video of me going over the Metra Functions.

I have another one on Youtube going over the fit aspects of the install. I'll post a link to it as soon as it's done processing

Where did you put the adapter for the antenna? Also, if I want to get the XM to work, what all do I have to get for that?

the adapter simply connects to the end of the car antenna and into the back of the stereo. AS for the XM, the factory unit is installed in the main head unit so when you replace it, you'll have to use whatever xm control module comes with or is required for you particular head unit install. I put in the Pioneer which meant I had to buy the XM add on module. It's mounted under the passenger side seat and currently, the antenna is mounted under the plastic cowl right below the windshield. I'm going to track down an extension for the xm antenna because i'm losing the xm signal from time to time. The extension will let me use the existing xm antenna that I think is installed in the shark fin.

Ah ok. Definately keep us updated on finding that extension cause if I get this kit down the line, I want to hook it up to the vehicle's antenna as well. Hopefully they get that issue sorted out with the unit not being able to answer calls on the car phone. Great vids by the way, very helpful!

John - just realized that you answerd my question in your video. Thanks a lot. Nice to see the kit in action!

But I'm stil not shure if I'll need the PDIM to change songs/volume with my steering wheel controls if the iPod is connected directly to the Pioneer Headunit.... seems to be a serious questions. Even the guys from Fessler didn't know for shure.

I would think that if the steering wheel controls work with the factory head unit, they will work with the metra kit since it uses an interface to handle controls.

Hey John congrats on the install, it looks great. Is it possible to get a picture of the unit from the door area so I can see how it looks when looking into the car. I would like to check out the aesthetics of the unit.

Thank you
