Happened to my me on my Hummer H2 I traded in for the camaro. 4 thousand dollars to repaint it, got it out the shop, two days later they did it again. 4K to repaint again, one month later they did it again, 600 to repaint the hood. Eggs will definitely F a paint job up! I keep my Camaro at work now, scared to bring it home. Sux i only drive my Camaro while I'm working but it keeps the miles low.

In the case of the H2, it was probably environmentalist crazies and not kids. They may not egg the Camaro, but why chance it

anytime an egg hits paint it, the eggshell will shatter and chip the paint in a spiderweb fashion. to boot, if you don't clean the egg and the sun dries it, the residue will cause additional damage. people should know that throwing eggs at cars cause serious damage to the paint. its not funny prank stuff--its straight up property damage.

I've tried to keep me getting a new vehicle as discreet as possible, just out of fear that someone might try to harm it. House has pre-installed cameras and all, but - somebody would have to pay if something ever happened to the car.

i wish i could be discrete, but im in the front of a huge parking lot where everybody can see it, and theres no way to find out who did it, which pisses me off the most

I can't comment on the force of tossed eggs scratching paint or primer, but I can tell you that leaving the egg on the surface for any length of time is awful for the paint. Egg yolks have a number of different dissolved acids in them, and the whites have a great number of reactive sulfur compounds that will eat paint and clearcoats for breakfast. <-- Pun

As for those high school kids, offer $100 for someone to rat out the culprits. That should do it. Or you could always try water boarding.

trust me, a well thrown egg will chip the clearcoat and probably a layer of paint (maybe down to the primer if throwing hard enough) in a spiderweb looking fashion. to boot, it is impossible to touch up because of the way the chips occur. even if you wash the car off, the chips will remain, so any egg thrown WILL result in damage to your vehicle. to remove these spiderweb blotches you will need to repaint the entire panel, unless you are just a wizard with spot repair

i wouldn't even recommend anyone attempt throwing an egg at a car to see if the spiderwebb chips occurs... just take my word that it will:

now if a car was egged good, imagine that, some probably worse, everywhere

Sad, just sad, sorry dude your in highschool what do you expect? I don't care if you are the nicest guy around, people will still envy you, it just makes them feel good about themselves, It's not your fault your either blessed or working hard for what you have. Sad to hear about these things happening, I wont even take my SS to walmart or any public parking lot, Im way to fussy and paranoid of shit like this happening. I have a Jeep YJ as my crappy weather and errand vehicle.
