I would ask him how he came up with his price. Maybe he just doesn't know what is already included in the packages.

He said prices could change a little each day, even in production...while the car is being assembled? Something along those lines...he said he would get it out the door to me at 40K, and it was over that, he would just take it as a loss?

I just want him to agree on the price above, I think that is more than fair?

And one more thing...someone may be able to clear up...if he said they are only allocated 3 cars until the 3rd quarter, does that mean he can only order 3 of these Camaros, and NO MORE until 9/30/09?

I am thinking that is the route I may take....anyone have any recommendations?

I guess I can make that offer, and if it's a no go, I will head out to another dealer.....

If I'm reading JohnnyCamaro correctly, the Engine Cover will be the Same as the Exterior color of the car.

If you do not want the body color but rather a different color please specify to your dealer. We have distributors who contact the dealer before the vehicle is delivered and confirm the order. At that time the dealer should tell our distributor to deliver an "orange engine cover" as opposed to the black one for the black car as referenced above in one of the threads. I would recommend you telling your dealer what color you want if it is Not the exterior body color.

It will default to the body color, but you can select a different color just like it states in John Cox's statement above.

This "dealer " just wants some fat extra profit, go find someone else, I'v also bought four F bodies and never had any markup. Gm will build as many of these as can be sold.
Since the economy isn't in good shape right now and for at least for another year,It does not make sense to turn away customers with an order"cut off date"!!!

Sorry, but Chevy already has a flagship. It called CORVETTE.

The only thing I have not included is tags and title costs. Which surely wouldn't raise that price to 40k.

The final price he gave me yesterday was: $40,000.62

I guess I need to "offer" him the price above. That sound reasonable to you all?

Am I missing anything? Was the destination charge added in to these calculations?

I want to make him an offer on a price, obviously the MSRP, and don't want to be missing anything vital.

Let me know
You need to see an ITEMIZED work sheet. Anything over MSRP is a rip off and I'd find another dealer. Cheby dealers are now discounting the Z06 by as much as $7K so what makes them think they can get more than MSRP on a car that will MASS produced, I'd bet they make more SS Camaro's in a year than Z06's in 7 or 8 years.

And GM wonders why they are going under. With dealers like these they are their own worst enemy.

OK - I've read this far and there is some contradictory info being posted...which is no surprise given that the consumer is way more informed than the seller now days.

Here's the coding on my order...
1EH37 Camaro 2LT coupe $26,580.00
LLT 3.6L V-6 engine standard on LT2
FE9 Federal emissions package standard on LT2
GAQ Red Jewel Tintcoat 295.00
AFF Black Leather seats standard on LT2
MX0 Automatic 6-speed
Transmission with TAPShift 995.00
WRS RS Exterior package 1,450.00
B34 Carpeted floor mats standard on LT2
UQA Boston Acoustics
Premium Sound System standard on LT2
N65 Compact Spare Tire/Wheel 150.00
B7W Cyber Gray Stripe package 395.00
Destination/Delivery charge 750.00

Estimated MSRP $30,615.00 (Note that this pricing is preliminary; but, shouldn't change much...or so my dealer thinks)

Although certain items are standard in the RS package or on the LT2, they still need to be input on the order to make sure that they get added on the assembly line. They should pop as "no charge" or "included" on the sticker.

I've got an MSRP ceiling guarantee from my dealer and had to put down a $500 deposit.

The actual Chevrolet book sent to the dealers titled "2010 Camaro Initial Ordering Workbook" has this info in it.... "The guide covers anticipated Camaro Coupe production from the start of regular production, currently scheduled for mid-February, through approximately Q3 2009." Here's the other tasty tidbit - "The production guide was developed based on two factors: (1) On your Chevrolet retail sales (both cars and trucks) over the twelve months ending August 2008; and (2) Mustang registrations for the twelve months ended June 2008 in your DMA." Every dealer has an individual production guide number for the first few months of production on the 2010 Camaro website that they access. Who knows what "first few months of production" means; but, I'll hazard a guess of the first 90-120 days. After that initial planned production run is completed, it should be open season with no allocations anywhere.

So...dealership allocations are based on dealership retail unit sales and the # of Mustangs registered in the sales region so Chevrolet can assure that there will be enough Camaros on the street to properly reclaim them as "bowtie country".

There will be enough to go around; but, you'll just have to be a bit more creative in getting one and agressive on not getting a high colonic on the pricing.

Hope this helps.
