Correct. This is a deflector putting cold air into the air box cavity. Without it you would not be getting as much cool air in the area with the front bumper on.

The old air box tube never did touch the front of the car and you had almost an inch clearance. So it is not a dedicated part to the old airbox but a way to get air into that area.

So then the aftermarket cold air kits that get the air from the same location as stock would need to have this in place correct? I believe many of the aftermarket kits get the air from the same location.

heres somemore pictures .listen guys im not here to argue with anybody just stating what i think .i have no proof this is just my opinion .rotofab even stated .i took some more pictures with it off .it gives alot more air flow with it off .as you see i also sent pictures with it back on the air only enters in the 3 inch space from up above .which i believe directed it in to the flow pipe on our old intake i also sent a pic of that to .dont hate on me for trying .when i mean i feel a differance it is deffinitly louder and i feel it in my take off .

alright guys this is all i would like to know .did all thes aftermarket companies even know that this piece was there .i know about 99 percent of us didnt even know it was .there .so if we started back at the drawing board would we have done something different on intakes that are out now or change something a bit .since we are getting i think more air flow .please air intake companies please put me to rest on this .and to anyone who wants to hate on this i really dont care .im just trying guys to bring up something we dont know about.just to bring up another point .when you buy a vararam system you take out your old intake correct .but do they leave that peice in .does it help the vararam system or not i dont know .

So it might even help with the stock airbox it would seem. I can't wait to see some more opinion on this.

But don't a lot of aftermarket intakes get air from the same location as stock?
