A 300 hp V-6 is going to cost a lot more to feed than a 200-something hp V-6. The figures aren't yet available, but the same basic 3.6 liter V-6 engine GM will use in the 2010 Camaro is currently in service in some other GM models -- where it gets about 16 mpg in city driving and 25 on the highway

i got this from his article isnt the v6 supposed to get 17/27?

and didnt he hear about the 3000 camaro orders in just 3 days!?!?!?!
or something like that right i couldnt find the thread

I did not read all for the comments after the crappy blog (did not even read the blog completely) but the comments that I did read witht the exception of one slammed his a$$. The one, go figure was some dum a$$ discustange owner (go figure). I miss my SS in the fact that I used show all of those pony fags my tail lights. I am saving for a new SS. Going to pay cash for it by the summer and cant wait to show them bung holes the tail lights again. Then just for added kicks going to put a set of twins on her to really rub it in. Maybe I should grow a mullet (what is a mullet?)
GM stands for God Motors in my mind!!!!

Well I am 45 soon to be 46 and I am buying one. My wife and I have a Acura RL and while it is in the BMW, Lexus class and I could buy another car like that but I won't.

I want USA, butt kicking, pavement eating V8 Camaro. The guy is a dork. I hope I can say that word, you know I am kind of old.

That article could apply to any of the musclecars. The Camaro is distinguished because it has unusual "extras":

1) all models have 6-speeds and dual exhaust outlets
2) all have IRS rear suspension (exotic/expensive)
3) Cadillac DI V6
4) gigantic (show car quality) one-piece exotic looking rear quarter panels

this is a "gotta have it" type of car. the people buying it don't care about the price or MPG. the article doesn't talk about that at all. also an SS costs less than a V8 dodge challenger if I am correct.

The V8 Dodge Challenger RT is $30,990.00 including destination charge. It's the same price with a 6-speed and dodge charges $995 extra for it. You could get the auto a little cheaper. I'd still prefer a Camaro SS1 over a Dodge Chally RT.

The Camaro was the superior car in every performance category, but it got crushed in sales.

As much as I love everything about the new Camaro, I AM worried about it - just as the article points out. Price is a huge issue, but not the only issue. GM (and Chryler) are coming 3 years late to the retro-muscle car table and the timing couldn't be worse. Economy sucks, gas is more expensive and the competition has a three year head start.

Just because we all love the Camaro shouldn't blind us to the very real possibility that this new car is facing some pretty tough challenges. Remember, we are a core group of enthusiasts, not the secretary looking for a "sporty 2-door" (which will comprise the bulk of Camaro sales - NOT 2SS/RS cars for us gearheads!)

That being said, I'm not giving up on the Camaro just yet. From what we have seen, it is going to be a brilliant car, and a HECK of a lot better looking that the bland Mustang. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it WILL be a runaway hit, so that maybe in a year or two we might start seeing special models like the Z28.
+1

I will never listen to a guy that refers to cars as "equally cute" as other cars - I second the opinion that he is a goob and has no idea what he's talking about.

I made a less than friendly response to the blog post this morning because the guy is truly an idiot detached from reality. The Camaro will have plenty of space and will make sales. Gas prices are plummeting where I live. Following the Mustang isn't a bad thing, either. The Mustang made the mistakes for the Camaro, like offering too many packages. What Ford did right, GM understood and copied. That's why the prototypes were accompanied by Mustangs for a long time. Finally, the Mustang is cheaper with good reason. It just isn't nearly as good as the Camaro. For what specs the Camaro boasts, it should cost a lot more than it does, and the Mustang should cost less. I'm not saying that it is overpriced; I am saying that the Camaro is underpriced. People who want sports cars of any variety will notice the huge gap in power and the overwhelmingly superior suspension of the Camaro.

I'm not worried.

Like I said earlier, he wrote this article negatively on purpose. You all are helping him make money by continuing to talk about it and linking to him.
