It's not pretty, no. But its not something that sits there all the time. Just for the short time you're using it I don't see an issue. Who are you showing off the dash to if you're just driving somewhere for yourself?

I don't know about GM's version, but in my wife’s 08 Accord that 8" LCD not only displays the Nav, but also the audio, calendar, notebook, Phone Book and Trip Computer displays/settings. All in nice and easy to read LARGE fonts with plenty of space to make each function easy to use and read while driving. It's what the manufacture does with all the real-estate that’s important.

The 8” LCD screen in the Accord is an integral part of the driver – vehicle interface.

That's actually what scares me about some of the new features in cars. I'm a big proponent of stripped racers even though I'm clearly too young to remember the glory days of early muscle cars. Nowadays, you can't take anything out of a car without some serious wire rerouting or revision to the car's tune. I had a 2005 Cobalt with the e16a ECM, and the wiring harness for an aftermarket head unit cost $125 when I bought it. Basically, it costs a lot to buy the necessary components to change a well-integrated system.

In the case of the Accord, we are looking at the future of all cars. Honda has set a standard for what to expect in future economy cars. What's scary about this is that the people who turn 16 and get an economy car will grow up. They'll be so used to all these wildly unnecessary luxuries that their future cars will have to have 3 screens, 2 subs, heated seats, wings, rocket launchers, and heads-up smiley faces that say "hello" every time they turn on the car. They'll buy 2050 Corvettes so packed with luxuries that it won't matter that GM had to lower the output to compensate for the cost.

I'm scared that luxury is becoming standard and a potential replacement for power. Show has become as important as go. There was a time when a glorified rustmobile would get respect for dominating the track. Now, even a win in that car wouldn't sway the overwhelming opinion that the rusty car sucks because it's wheels aren't chrome and it's suspension doesn't have switches.

Maybe I'm worried about nothing. :seesaw: Maybe I'm pointing out that our priorities as enthusiasts aren't as pure as our grandparents' priorities.

I am not showing the dash off to anyone, but I don't like how it looks on the dash. I use mine whenever I drive at night, we have no streetlights here and it's easy to shoot past a street. The navigation gives me advanced warning of a upcoming road I need to turn on.

If luxury and technology scares you like that you should buy a car from the stone age and restore it. So few people in the general public want a striped car, and neither do I. Personally I want it all; power, luxury, and technology. The comment you made sounds like it came out of my grandfathers mouth.

I think it's ridiculously to expect cars to become less powerful in the future. If anything they will become more powerful. Even mid sized sedan's with V6's are approaching 300 HP, the 4 cylinders are approaching 200 HP.

As I remember the classic muscle cars, the most respectable ones were the ones that were stripped down, like the Z28, and made for power alone. These luxuries belong on Cadillacs, not high-performance Chevrolets. Some day, every Chevy will have a nav screen. :( That day will make me very sad. It will be the same day that GM forgot how to build a true muscle car.

I love navigation systems, warm seats, and leather, too; however, I will love them when I'm 80 years old with my classic stripper 2010-2012 Camaro RS SS in the garage. It might not matter to a lot of you guys. The option of navigation would be great because it would help Chevy trump the competition, but I want my stripper V8.
well it can be like the cts and pop out of the dash.
no one said you had to like it but there are people who do want it. thats the nice thing about stuff as an OPTION. that meens you dont have to have it if you dont want it.
i love my nav in my truck i use it all the time.

Thank you, about time someone told these people that the navigation system if offered is still an option. Don't like it don't order it, don't tell me I can't have it because they don't need or want it.

Yea I don't like a lot of the accessories offered for the Camaro, but I don't come here complaining that GM offers them to people who find value in such accessories. Thats just me though, I was raised to respect other peoples opinions and wishes.

If a true muscle car is just an engine, transmission, steering wheel, and somewhere to sit than a true muscle car would sell to very few people.

look it up in the dictionary.
dont know the defintion you are looking for, or what this has to do with nav. but the a classification for a muscle car is that it is a 2 door rwd car with back seats. that separates the muscle cars from the sport cars. I.E. : a vette, viper, ferarri is a sports car and the camaro, mustang , challanger is a muscle car.
