Bell040 maybe you and PQ should swap sensors. He's having problems with his new ones.

Tony want me to bring one of the stockers over today? I have one with a small bit of curb rash, we can dismount and look at the sensor and see if part numbers match. Mine has the issue as well so suspect it's a 314.9 sensor in that wheel. I can leave the tire off and have the wheel fixed in the meantime!

I'm going to take my stock wheels to my local tire shop on Monday and have them take the tires off the rims and take the sensors out. I'll look at them at the shop to see if they say "314.9" on them. Curiosity is getting the better of me!

I'm willing to bet we can get it done first
![]() I'm waiting on sensors, the TPMS thing doesn't bug me that much. Want to leave the stock set with the stock wheels/tires.

I want to leave the stock set with the stock wheels too. It would be so much easier. But, the TPMS system does bug me. Partly I don't like the light on in the dash. But, the main reason is, these low profile tires on my new 22" rims don't look flat when they are very low on air. I want the system to function. Also, I just want to figure out what the issue is for sure. I think Nine Ball has figured it out and I just want to confirm it. I'd like to save others the same hassles down the road.
will69Camaro, if you do get your sensor out of your stock wheel and it has the frequency rating of 314.9 printed on it, then I'd like to know your VIN number. Maybe we can figure out when GM made the switch if we keep track of these cars. |

Definitely, I'm sure we'll be posting pictures if it has a diff number or the frequency on it.
I understand what you're saying about the 22" not looking low on pressure, hell hard enough to tell on 20s that have a sidewall! My car is definitely a later build. Mine was built in Dec 2010 and has all the "new" stuff with no "GM" badge and no "Performance division badge" and the rear parking assist.

Tony, did you miss my post or just ignore it? Mine is WAY before the cut-off estimate. And I'm having the problem too. I think you may have some bad info here. |

Randy, I'm only the messenger here. Nothing to ignore, I simply do not know the answer. Would you rather me not share my findings? For all we know, your own car could have been the cut-off point. My own car is 8824 and I have not had the problem.
Like I said earlier, that cutoff was an assumption based on FrankT's reply in the other thread. The fact that the frequency changed somewhere is not bad information. Otherwise, why are these sensor manufacturers scrambling to try and produce a 314.9 Mhz sensor?

Just pulled an OEM tire off of VIN# 170882, it still has sensor part number 12768826 (older part number, 315 Mhz printed on it). FCC number on the sensor is MRXG43MA4S
This car has had the same issues with aftermarket sensors. Makes.No.Sense.

It was nice as I noticed that the turn signal for the tire learning was illuminated.

We will try the air release method on the Camaro. It was programmed with the electronic TPMS tool.

Well now this throws another monkey wrench into things, doesn't it? My dealer said that if I put the new OEM sensors I bought from them in my car, they'd cover the work under warranty if there are any issue. (same part number as above in your post as well as the same FCC number you listed there, Nine Ball.) Now what to do? Put the stock sensors in the new tires? Put the new set I bought from the dealer in the new tires? Put the stock wheels back on the car and see if those actually keep their programming when I press relearn? I would try all of these things if I didn't have to pay a shop every time the wheels are touched. I will be interested to see if you guys can resolve the issues with the car and stock wheels you have there, Nine Ball. Last edited by Darth_Emma; 06-26-2010 at 10:37 PM. |

I guess it seems like the only solution for the time being is reusing the stock sensors.
