Well aside from the fact that the compression would have to be doubled, you would have to find a way to replace the fuel injectors with diesel injectors and then you would have to either pressurize your fuel line to 23,000 psi or the oil pressure would have to be raised to 4,500 psi (since diesel injectors use the high pressure oil line to act as a multiplier to raise the fuel pressure to around 23,000 psi), strengthen the crank, heads, cylinder walls, etc etc.. so um yeah... not going to happen.
Let me put it like this... we just finished replacing the bolts with studs on my powerstroke diesel. There are 8 studs per side, each torqued to 210lbf to give you an idea of how much force it takes to contain a diesel explosion at high power levels. Heck the heads alone weigh almost as much as the LS3. The complete engine clocks in at just shy of 1,000 pounds. My suggestion, if you want big power, get yourself some forced induction. Turbo's or Supercharger depending on what flavor of goodness you like. |

Yep... it's pretty...
The new 6.7L powerstroke is a single sequential turbo (which is basically two compressors crammed into one housing) beast and a mean one at that. It makes 390hp and 735lbf at 1,600 rpm. Stock. Nasty little motor. Most heavy duty diesels will be single sequential or twin turbo units soon. They do a much better job with emissions on larger diesels. |
