I'm just saying, I feel like you're getting ahead of yourself. Trust me, I know how frustrating it can be to deal with dealers. I have one of the very early cars off the line, sat at the dealer for a week and a half waiting for paperwork... It was killer. Just be patient... Keep bugging your dealer, call a regional manager, light some fires under people. Stuff you shouldn't have to do, but ya just gotta do it.

Good luck!

UPDATE

UPDATE: a good friend of mine saw my facebook status about called gm and how they are trying to get things rolling. She asked if my car was at Voss Chevrolet and. Replied yes. She was like Omg my friend was telling me how some Air Force pilot guy came in o the dealer with a camaro. So that has to be my car the guy is talking about. Anyways she said her friend told her the part is Thailand and will be here in 13 days. Why would it come from Thailand? Idk...they will be cutting it close on the 30 days. I'll be glad to just have my baby back

I don't know how lemon law works if you are bringing the car in for separate issues but I know or a fact that the lemon law works as I described.

Lemon Laws don't include the days wanting on parts to arrive. It may be 16 physical days but according to the law it's only day 6 since 10 of those days they are waiting on a back ordered part. Some states also do not include weekends or holidays in which the shop is closed so depending on what day of the week it was when you took it in it may be day 4 or 5.

I would, however, either call or go to the dealer demanding reasons for the long wait.
That is not exactly correct. Tx lemon law is 4 strike rule:
Quote:
Four-times test
If you have taken the vehicle to a dealership for repairs:
  • two times for the same problem or defect within the first 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first, and
  • twice more during the 12 months or 12,000 miles after the second repair attempt, and
  • the problem is still not repaired
you pass the four-times test.
Quote:
30-days test
If your vehicle has been out of service for repair because of problems covered by the warranty:
  • for a total of 30 days or more, not necessarily all at one time, during the first 24 months or 24,000 miles, and
  • there were two repair attempts during the first 12 months or 12,000 miles immediately after delivery, and
  • a substantial problem still exists
you pass the 30-days test.

Just because its an American car does not mean the parts are American.

Good job on the escalation, sometimes that's what it takes. Dealers have a ton of cars in service at any given time, it's unfortunately easy for one to fall through the cracks.

Well after atleast 30 days, changing the computer, O2 sensor, and the top half of the engine several times they finally had the engineers look at it. This usually takes place in about 6 months but the dealer pushed through because my wife and I were using the car in pics for our wedding.
That's not exactly a single problem, since the check engine light is activated for a wide variety of reasons. Also, it sounds like you truly did have a lemon of a car, seeing that there was a problem that not even the engineers could figure out

How is that different from what I said? I said a single point failure. Single being one (first time to attempt a fix) and point failure being the failure of one part or assembly. This isn't the second time the OP has had his car in to fix the issue. Regardless, the OP doesn't live in Texas, so what does Texas law matter?

I realize it is a pain to be without your car, but I'd try to just wait it out and give the dealer a chance to fix the problem before even considering the lemon law. I'd only be concerned if it was something they couldn't repair, but this sounds fixable. The dealer really hasn't had a chance to repair the car, since they can't get parts. You might be able to push the issue some more with GM even if the parts are supposedly on the way.

13 days from Thailand?

Makes no sense, are they shipping by sailboat?

Call the dealer and ask what the SPAC case number is. They should be over-nighting the part from the plant if the service parts warehouse is on backorder.

If the part is on backorder, they should have opened a SPAC case on day 1.

Your original statement was not clear. Actually rather confusing.
I read it as

"cars that have a lot of problems" Many problems not related to anything other than being on the same car.
"Single Point failure" Single point being single part. I am not sure how you correlate "point" to repair attempt.

Irregardless of where the OP is located. I was addressing you which live in Spring Texas. I was trying to get my "single point" across to you in terms you would understand by ueing Texas law as an example.

When you have a "single point" of contact. Is is the same person you contact as often as you need to.

Have a Great Day!

If it is in Thailand or overseas International "ground service" for Fed Ex/UPS would be about two weeks.

The dealer told me the ship that has the parts cannot leave because of hurricane in the region...go figure. Oh well I'm leaving on my mission...literally right now on the plane lol (other pilots are piloting this part of the trip) gotta go! Hopefully my car will be ready when I get back! Cya guys!!!
