FWIW, the "cutting" involved with AR headers take all of 10 minutes (provided you have a reciprocating saw). Just measure, cut, and slide your system into the catback. Done.

This is the first I have ever heard of our system hanging low and since OrangeChevyII isn't a dealer I'm not sure how much experience you would actually have here. A statement like that warrants some proof. Until then all the guys putting together package cars uses ARH stuff because we have the best product out period.

Agreed, I installed my system and there was no issue with the collectors hanging low what so ever...

Does anyone running the full ARH exhaust have an issue with drone?

I have heard from a couple of forum members that have the kooks setup that the headers are top notch. But when they added the kooks mufflers they got serious drone that required a muffler swap.

I have a small amount at 1500 in 6th gear when cruising. Check our my link I posted in post 28.

Thank you. I have spent a lot of time watching your video clips. I don't really hear much on the inside. I am referring to your last clip. In the slow acceleration from 55 to 70, it seems pretty quiet. At the end of the clip, you accelerate harder and it definitely comes alive.

I have the full ARH long tubes/X/pipe set up. originally on the stock mufflers. sounded great, I wanted it to idle a little louder so you could hear my Cam better. put the borla ATAK axle back mufflers on. Sounds great when it idles or when you hammer down. however, when just riding around town, drone is awful.

Thanks for the honest feedback. So you're saying the drone did not start until you added the ATAK system?

This is just my personal opinion but I think the only way you're going to get a system with zero drone is going with someone like Corsa or the Maganaflow Street series. The trade off is going to be that they aren't as loud down low in the RPM (yes....I know WOT is a different story).

Although I haven't heard a Corsa I have heard the Magnaflow street with headers. They were a little on the quiet side for me just driving around.

So...if you want to hear the exhaust more at lower RPM then you're probably going to have drone in the 1,600-1,900 RPM range.

Obviously I haven't heard all combiniations of exhausts but I've seen plenty of posts were people comment on their systems.

The one I do have experience on is the muffler delete with resonated X-pipe. That's the same type as Magnaflow 2.5" Comp and SOLO Mach-X. It does have some drone around that RPM range, especially under load. Give it a little gas or let off the gas and it goes away.

EDIT: See....what SupercharedSS says confirms what I'm saying. You can get a no (or very little) drone system but the trade off is that they are going to be quieter. You have to determine what trade off you want.

Also, forgot to mention that I was able to hear the KOOKS 3" full exhaust this weekend. I liked it pretty well. Not to loud at idle but when you rev it up you could definately hear it. He said that he had the drone as well in the typical RPM range.

I got to hear a JBA full system last week as well. It's a bit too loud and raspy for me. If you want a fairly loud system do that everyone knows you're coming and going the JBA might be the ticket. If I was 10-15 yrs younger that would've been the system I would look at.

I'm trying get to hear an LG Motorsports full system in person but from the videos I think this is one of the better all around systems IMO. They are definately not the cheapest but I might be willing to pay a little more to get the right sound if I have to.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of headers over the original manifold? Will installing headers have any impact on my warranty?

Power and depends on the dealer. If you want more opinions there are a million threads on the subject. There are dealers that install our headers and tune before the is even taken off the lot is their customer requests it.

Caverman,

I am going for quiet. My only reason for doing headers is for performance. I intend to supercharge in the spring. So anything I get will only beome louder. I'm not a kid and I live in a very quiet neighborhood. This is my daily driver. I leave for work before 4am. The last thing I want is to blast my neighborhood every morning.

I used to have a neighbor that had a harley with the loudest pipes he could find. Every time the weather was decent he was outside working on that damn thing. I hated it. To this day, I just shake my head when I see someone running an obnoxiously loud exhaust. Most of the time it's on a piece of crap.
