I believe, whether the outcome is gov't loan or Chapter 11, GM will continue to exist and will continue to want to get this car into production ASAP.
Bankruptcy affords them, like anyone, protection from creditors, and allows them actions they otherwise couldn't take. But a resulting, almost certain downsizing might mean the dealership you ordered your Camaro from may not be in business too far down the road....in which case...I suppose the car would just be diverted to the next closest dealer for delivery.... so the drive home's a little longer - no big deal.
Chevydude26's post on this thread http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...t=9416&page=18 has a lot of interesting info about bankruptcy - it's not all gloom and doom, although I'm sure a lot of high paid corporate people at all 3 who might get axed under reorganization will tell you it's catastrophic!

A deal struck...not sure that makes me happy...i hope they don't blow this $ if they get it

If they had shown up with a well-thought out plan, then perhaps the outcome would be a little different.

The real kick in the ass is when all 3 CEO's arrived in seperate corporate jet's. A Senate member questioned them about this, asked why they didn't jet pool, or perhaps fly first class. The Big 3 are there asking for a financial bail out and show absolutely no regard for the money they are spending and the image they are conveying to the public and Senate. It's no wonder why they may not get the money. Sorry guys, but those 3 yahoo's would have been better off staying home.

How can 3 top executives of the worlds most powerful corporations arrive without a business plan to present. It's quite obvious they thought, " Hell we're GM, Chrysler and Ford and there's no way you can deny us what we want." Yeah, right.

This just came out......

Four US senators have reached a bipartisan agreement on a bill to assist the struggling automotive industry, but several hurdles remain before the proposal clears Congress.

They addressed that in the hearing. Each of them are still competitors. And as such they weren't willing to share corporate secrets with eachother. However they all agreed to provide that information the the senate confidentially.

I'm OK with that. Now is not the time to show your cards to the world.

WOW, the short sightedness of a lot of folks on this board is scary. All I've heard is "If GM goes bankrupt will I get my Camaro?" I mean seriously? If GM goes, the other two aren't far behind. Am I the only one that realizes that's a bigger issue than whether or not I get a Camaro??!!!

C'mon people.

C'mon people.

There's alot of folks that have been anxiously awaiting the introduction of the new Camaro. Thousands have already placed orders. I can understand their feelings, anticipation and frustrations. But, I agree with ya. Some folks are putting the cart before the horse.

Congress to Automakers: No Plan, No Bailout: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,455407,00.html

Looks like the Big 3 have until December 2nd to put forth a plan addressing accountability and viability.

What I don't understand is why they are hesitant to allow them to tap the $25b already set aside, I mean if congress does nothing there will be no US auto industry left to loan to. It will all be dismantled and the profitable bits bought up by the Japanese and Europeans. Then we can export even more money to the rest of the world.

I hope this isn't a re-post, but do you think the UAW is actually trying to help or is is smoke and mirrors?
