I can't see the Z/28 coming in at $45K...bottom price will be right around $50K and then with options somewhere in the area of $60K fully loaded.

GM won't offer two trim levels I don't think so you have to look at the 2SS/RS package and add prices from there.

With new engine, suspension, tires and body changes....I'd be suprised to see it come in at $45K...

...and no, I wouldn't buy one unless it's a showroom stock high 11 second/low 12 second car!

sure. why not? The Corvette is the ultimate imo, and i love the CTS. It's a gorgeous car, and the interior is first class too.

I guess I just don't connect 35k with a Corvette...and a CTS for 35k doesn't quite compare to the SS in performance.

But I agree, both are amazing vehicles!!

no , the Corvette is more than 35k, and it obviously would have to be whether i could afford it. I'm just saying there's a certain price point that seems too much for a Camaro. Now if the higher price was getting a dash as gorgeous and classy as the CTS , that would be a different matter.

Yes...although the styling of the CTS-V is a tad more than I like. So, if it had the performance of the CTS-V, and styled (not look like, but aggressive, forward thinking, sharp angles kind of thing) like it...then I'd have to pass.

Amazing car no doubt but not my flavor!

Interesting.

On a little side note...I actually had a CTS V pass me today on my way home...black...I could see the hood bulge from a few car lengths back and I actually did a double take over a Cadillac.

I gotcha. My perspective is: The car starts at 22k. Let the price go up as high as it needs to reflect the equipment they stuff into it after that.

If I'm going to spend about that amount of money to get SS to where I'd want it anyways, why not let GM do it and give me a warranty

poll kind of proves the point where only 46% will actually outright buy this thing.

I think there are a lot of details not in the poll that may influence the votes, too.

For example: If you asked me if I'd buy a $45K Z28 with suspension, small bump in power, and some body mods', I'd vote "no". If you were to ask me the same question, and add another 150 horsepower, then I wouldn't think twice.

That's just me though

to much speculation to add that into the poll. for 45+ you have to assume a better suspespion, changes in appearance and a HP gain.

I know I'm in a dream world for saying this, but, I would love the Z to $45,000... in dollars.

I would seriously consider the Z in the $40K-45K price range, but once you get any higher than that, you get into new base Corvette range, used C6 Z06 range, used 2nd Gen CTS-V range, etc.

If there exists only a $10,000 gap between a Z/28 Camaro and a new Grandsport Corvette, I probably would have to tighten the purse strings for a few months and get the Vette.

Because the bottom line for a lot of us enthusiasts (especially those of us to road track our cars) is that we are simply spending lots of mod money on power, braking, and handling just to make our cars perform as well as most stock Corvettes. Not saying we only want two seats or want our car to actually be a Vette, just perform like one. All the money in the world won't make my first gen CTS-V (performance numbers are almost exactly the same as Camaro SS - except drag times of course) turn as fast of lap times on a road course than a C6 Z06.

That is why when the price gap closes to within $10K between GM's top dog sports/muscle cars, it becomes really hard to make that decision. Also, I am fairly certain that GM will not want Camaro sales to encroach on Vette sales, or CTS-V sales.

Pricing should be as follows (in my non-business oriented mind):

Camaro Z/28 = Base-$40K ---- Optioned Out-$45K (this would also significantly undercut the GT500 and possibly steal sales from Ford)

Vette GS Coupe = $55,720 actual MSRP

Cadillac CTS-V = $65,000 approximate MSRP

Corvette Z06 = $75,235 actual MSRP

See the pattern: worst performance to best performance - 45, 55, 65, 75.

Tweeter, I agree with your logic but I have one question. Do you not think the new Z won't outperform the CTS-V with the same engine plus a power bump, free-er flowing exhaust and a 2-300lb lighter car?
