Sorry for doubting. Very sensitive subject. But you certainly gained some status.

It's all good I debated posting as I know it is so sensitive.

I still want to know details and see pictures/video of the finished product. This topic isn't dead yet.

I was kinda wondering that, too. Personally, I don't WANT the ABL on my 2SS because I personally think it is about half a step removed from neon hung underlighting (along with a good bit of the accessories) but that is just my personal opinion.

What is NOT just my personal opinion is the fact that GM is building this car to mass-market to the general auto-buying public with the hopes of turning a tidy profit on it. Every single decision they make or announcement they make or revelation they make it 100% geared specifically towards that aim. This is as it should be. GM is not in the business of building boutique sports cars and this is a good thing because that is about a million miles outside their core competency. Do they have the "brainpower"? Sure! That's not GM's raison d'ętre, however. Further, as a GM stockholder, I would be pissed if they WERE attempting to cater to the whims of a microcosm of enthusiasts on a handful of web forum and the expense of sound business decision-making.

On the other hand, GM does not "owe" any of us one dime for modifying ABL in a way that decreases its coverage or appearance any more than it would be reasonable to expect a refund or reduction in price should they not paint the shark fin or they do paint the shark fin (depending on whether you'd prefer it body color or not.)

In any case, however, it is illogical to claim that potential buyers should be grateful to GM for the privilege of buying their mass-produced consumable product and it is also illogical to expect special treatment from GM because they have slightly varied production models from what shown in pre-production models -- especially since the whole "production models may vary" thing should come as no surprise to anyone and even more especially since (to my knowledge) there was no ABL-specific pricing ever discussed as a baseline upon which to base such a discount.

I think Stout is justified in expressing his disappointment at the change (if, in fact, this proves true and permanent) and I think he is equally justified in vocalizing towards those who suggest that he's being an ingrate. I also think that expecting GM to compensate you for that change is unreasonable but would suggest (to anyone for whom ABL was a significant part of the purchase decision) this might be a bargaining point with the dealership from whom you might actually buy the car.

Maybe I'm just confused, though, because I don't know "the story of ABL"?

Whoever gets their 2SS first will absolutely take pictures of the ambient lighting and post them here. I have not a single doubt.

We damn well better have something concrete before people take delivery.

If they knew the technology was not proven, why did they commit to it so long ago? They must have known 6 months ago of the problem, yet they could not fix it after 6 months of R&D?

If they are smart, this will probably be the last time they let us in during development because of some ungreatful ninnies. If your not happy, you always have the option of not buying it. But is that what this car is all about anyway, some lighting on the dash?
No one on this board is forced to buy this car. No one even told you to pre-order a car you never sat in or test drived. Be mad. Get over it. It's a great car.
