You must be responding to the previous poster's comments that I put in quotes......from several posts ahead of mine. My statements had nothing to do with posted ET's....I don't give a s__t about ET's.

The camaro might drop to 3700#'s and hopefully less.
Why the mustang would gain 150#'s to become 3700#'s is beyond me. If you meant gt500, I don't think it's reasonable to awesome the camaro gen6 will lose 420#'s to become 3700#'s while the gt500 would only lose 150#'s to become 3700... If the gt500 lost 10% of its weight (to be fair) it'd be 385#'s lighter. Take 11#'s off that since the camaro is 4120 which is shy of 4200 and you get a gt500 that's 3475#'s... Also pretty unrealistic but we can all hope. I wanna see it but I'm gonna assume each model in the respective model lines will be 150#'s lighter on mustangs and about 250#'s lighter on Camaro's. 3870# zl1 3600# ss 3325# v6 3700# gt500 3450# gt 3250# v6

ZL1 barely edged out the Boss on a road course? 2.45 seconds is not barely edging it out, it's complete decimation. That's a healthy margin. Barely edging it out would be 1/6th of that time. I'm a Mustang owner, and even I can see that the ZL1 is faster on a road course. I think Boss would be a more visceral experience, and it would probably be the one I would chose. When I do road racing, I treat it just like when I drag race, which is just racing against my own time, because there are always better and faster drivers and cars out there. My first road course I did here in Phoenix at Firebird Main a long time ago, I got passed by a guy running an almost bone stock Miata with half the power my car at the time had. He passed me like I was in coasting in neutral. I followed his line for a couple of laps until he got so far ahead of me I couldn't see his line anymore, and then before the next session I spend a good amount of time talking to the dude and trying to learn as much about the track as I could.

Corvette and Viper should have been mid-rear engined too. If you're going to have an impractical 2 seater, then have a proper one with the engine at the back.
I love this car. |

Where are the 13 GT500 testing times? Dam aren't these cars in the process of shipping and still no times posted? We know they have been tested, but yet no results posted. What's the big secret?

On the road course, the Camaro was 2.4 seconds a lap quicker and almost 10 mph faster at the end of the back straight. Roughly 4 of those mph were courtesy of higher cornering speed carried out of the previous turn. Even without the big power difference on the straight, the Camaro would have been constantly making ground on the Mustang with mid-corner speed. The Camaro can simply generate more cornering force and corner faster, thanks in part to front tires that are as wide as the Mustang's rears and rear tires that are 20 millimeters wider still. Coupled with a stiffer body and more compliant suspension, the Camaro is a more capable car around the track.

With the new materials and technology now, they should be able to mass produce and line up vendors who will be supporting much lighter stronger cars. Even the engines and engine bays will benefit from all that's been happening.
My fear is not the performance, it's how modulated and ugly these cars could get again if designers don't stick to these cars looking reasonably tough. Look at what happened after the mid 70's, all through the 80's, and all the way into the early 2000's. Pre 2003, there wasn't a single American car that I thought really looked tough and refined. Ugly, Ugly, Ugly. Erik
