Even if it isn't I don't understand why someone has to stir up crap from the outside when we have enough of it already here...

Can't the same thing be said about the ZL1?

The fact is, a significant number of families out ther can't afford a 1LS. GM has done a good job of providing a Camaro for a wide swath of families and individuals. Why does each trim level have to be affordable to all?

No clue who this Pill guy is but that was a good read and I agree. Chevy needs a reality check with that price.

I have a question for the Pill. In what world did the GT500 "whoop" the ZL1? It is .1-.2 seconds faster in the 1/4 mile but immeasurably slower on any significant road coarse. While I think he has some valid points in regards to the Z/28, his comments on the ZL1 -vs- GT500 are WAY off. I can't find a single trade mag that prefers the GT500 over the ZL1. Car and Driver, Motortrends, Automobile, etc..etc..have all give a nod for the ZL1.

And as far as the Z/28, if I get one, I am not looking to race anything sanctioned. I am going to go and have blast at my local road coarse racing against MYSELF (timed laps) more than anyone else. The idea that the Z/28 missed the mark because it has parts that are not allowed by specific sanctioning bodies is about the dumbest thing I have ever heard. If I wanted a sanctioned car, I would build one from scratch or buy a S or R that are NOT street legal by the way. Chevy built a car that will rip the a$$ off anything Ford has that is street legal within $50K and has also elevated the conversation to leave Ford playing with itself while the Camaro goes looking for Porsche, Ferrari, and GT-R's. If this upset the Pill, he can wait for the promise of the GT-350 while those of us who can get the Z/28 are driving the reality of the now and present Z/28...regardless of what some sanctioning body has to say about it. LOL..honestly...who cares.

Wait a sec, didn't the gt500 tie with the ZL1 on some road courses and even beat it on a few? I wouldn't say that is "immeasurably slower". The ZL1 beat it on a few road courses for sure, but the gt500 was pretty close. From what I have seen in my research, the gt500's best 1/4 was in the 11.2 range and the ZL1 ran a best of 11.8's... that more than a half a second.

I would guess The Pill is an incognito Ford employee dispatched to spew retoric. Who else would put this much time/thought into such a post?

JAZ, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is exactly WHAT, here? Are you an emissary from the UN, or the Foreign Minister from some Third-World crackpot dictatorship?

Your 34 posts to date all include Ford/Mustang remarks, and you arrived here in time to trumpet the all-new-and-finally-improved '15 Mustang, a not-ready-for-prime-time car with some very important data still missing...like Curb Weights.

As to what others think of comments made here, let them man-up and call a spade a shovel HERE. Instead of acting like the North Korean shrimp, flappin' gums from afar...

Anything else on your mind, besides Ford/Mustang, for this non-General Section? Feel free to share...

the more laps you run, the further the gt falls behind. Any car can be a one lap wonder. Gt brake fade starts to kill lap times the more u run. Not so in the ZL1. this is fact, not opinion.

and lets not forget the z/28 ran a 7:31 at the ring on a dry track. The Pill conviently left that point out which eliminates much of his bloviating.

Wasn't that a wet track lap too?

It very well could be. That would be his reason to come in...divide and conquer.

He's taking it back to the origin of the Z/28 when it raced in and won SCCA titles in the 60's. It was the reason the Z/28 was ever conceived. However even then they were modified to race, which is exactly what would be done today if need be. Both rules and cars change as needed to compete in so called sanctioned events. Just look at the Viper. It has been seriously detuned to compete in certain classes because it's engine was/is too large.
