Well you know the old saying about how if it can happen . . . .

The shop had an accident with my car while pulling it into a bay and the front bumper will probably have to be replaced. It is now at Richey Collision up near IAH Airport and as of yesterday they haven’t even looked at it yet so the car will not be ready for this Saturday.

Whether you were planning to come or not I wanted to shoot this follow up post out to everyone to give you a heads up and to thank everyone for even considering to come.

Things do happen and I have to say that G-Force Motorsports was stand up about this unfortunate incident by wanting to do whatever it takes to make it right, even reimbursing my track rental fee. G-Force suggested Richey Collision and after I did some poking around it appears this shop does some amazing work.

Eventually I will get to test this new set-up out and I will keep you posted. I see that Texas Speed Syndicate has a November slot (TBD) so I am keeping my fingers crossed it will be at Royal Purple.

Your car couldn't be in better hands than Richey Collision! Chris and Karen have done some work on my Z06 back in the day! They are a staple in the Houston Corevette community! They will probably make it look better than factory! My car will be there soon to have my front bumper refinished.

Sucks, but it happens. But besides that it looks like the event will probably get rained out thanks to what's left from Hurricane Harvey.

I made a post in the drag strip area but this thread has generated a lot of onlookers so I will repeat it here.

I have experienced issues with breaking the clips that hold the front bumper in place at 140 mph speeds. This causes the entire front bumper to flex back and splits the metal right in the center over both left/right front wheel wells.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Has anyone installed a ZL1 bumper on their 2010 Camaro since it would be built for higher speeds?

Did you have the same flex issue I described above before you switched to the V6 bumper?

I looked but couldn't find one. A dealership built a custom iron brace that weighs over 100 lbs to fit behind the front bumper that bolts to the frame.

After discussing options with Richey Collision, I am going with a 2013 ZL1 bumper. I chose this route because he convinced me that it has extra support vs the stock Camaro bumper and I will lose at least 100 lbs off the car on this upgrade.

I chopped that front bar off since it was hindered a lot on my air flow, probably not the safest decision but i havent had issue running around town without it

Man. Sorry for the bad luck!!! That ZL1 bumper will look sick though. I can't remember. Did you take off the stock, front brace in front of the radiator?

Mostly going with the ZL1 bumper for strength, not looks. I hope it will look ok when done.

No, kept the front brace.

I think the zl1 front will look badass! May also offer better cooling. It's on my list of upgrades. But somewhat low for now.

After everything I have both heard and read, Richey Collision is the BEST! It was a very unfortunate incident that happened to my car, but G-Force stepped up to the plate and is paying for the repairs. I am paying the difference for extras incurred with installing the ZL1 bumper.

Richey Collision pricing seems VERY reasonable to me. In my discussions with Chris he stated that the ZL1 bumper will offer better ventilation into the engine compartment. That, coupled with my aftermarket hood with twin vents, should provide good air flow through the engine bay.

My only concern was that I wanted to keep the T-Rex grill. Chris says I will be able to keep the top one that covers the lights but will end up losing the lower grill, but I am ok with that.
