Ok, I'll be washing the Camaro soon and will plan to be at Beavercreek K-Mart by 5pm if not sooner.

I was just looking at the restaurants at the Greene the other day and wondered if the Mongolian restaurant was any good. I'm up for trying it. I need to find another restaurant to go to for my b-day dinner this weekend. Any recommendations in the Dayton area? I might go to Amber Rose though I'd consider something different.

The Scooter Store was nice enough to mail me some information on their products just prior to my b-day I guess to remind me how old and run down I'm getting. LOL

The Scooter Store??

I can't talk, I get AARP stuff all the time.

Tell us what kind of food you want and how fancy. Steak? Italian? German? Thai? New Orleans? Lots of good places.

The Mongolian Grill is fun, not fancy, but you won't leave hungry. It'll have a good crowd there tonight (Friday, nice weather) so one of us will have to go ahead 20 minutes and get an order in for the table size. There's a couple of parking garages back there too with lots of spots if you drive up to the top floor. We can talk about that at K-Mart.

I get home at 4 so should be up there around 5 too. I'll look for you in the usual line? (about two rows west of the Waffle House)

Was a good time last night, we had five from this forum there, plus an SLP ZL550 car for a total of six Gen5's. We ended up walking over to El Toro's Mexican for dinner. Forgot to take pictures.

I'm planning on going down today, sounds like Drew10 is too. Also sounds like there some 1,000+ hp machines going to be there. I'm doing it for the learning experience, definitely not trying for any prizes. Very curious how the car will handle with the blown engine. Give you a report later.

Good turn out today at Tri State. You'll have to ask QWKSS for the final numbers but he was pleased with the turnout. I didn't stay till the end, was burnt out from the heat and ready to get home.

Plenty of time to get lots of runs in, but I only ran four times. Consistent numbers (low 13's), but not as low as I wanted. My clutch started smoking on my last run, so I called it a day around 3:30, let the car cool down some and headed home. Was glad to be able to drive it home. Not everybody made it home under their own power, one left on a flatbed. :(

Glad you had a great time, SI! Sorry to hear someone had to have his or her baby hauled home. Hope it wasn't a daily driver...

Speaking of drag racing - I got to do that for the first time in my life yesterday out at National Trail Raceway. I took up the Humbler's offer to join their GTO day at the track. I ended up being the only gen 5 Camaro there. After about an hour I got up the nerve to try a run. I was a rookie for sure. It was ugly. Botched the launch and blew the first two shifts for an embarrassing 15.0 pass but the big ole LS3 still pulled through the traps at 103 mph despite the driver
The second run had just as bad a launch but at least I remembered how to shift and ran 14.8 at 105 mph. At that rate I figured it would take me til sometime next year to run down the track to the potential of the car. Plus I was embarrassing the Camaro nation in front of all those GTOs, Mustangs and everything else there :(

I waited an hour and tried one more time. I still didn't nail the launch (2.44 seconds for 60 ft.) but pulled staight and hard from there for a 13.6 at 108 mph. I didn't run again as at this track if you run better than 13.99 you need to wear a helmet which I didn't have - plus at least that run was competitive as compared to the GTO guys. So I saved face and retired for the day

I was pleased with the end result for my first ever time out. I can see how people can get hooked doing this. You get to go 110 mph and you are encouraged to do so

If you had fun and didn't break anything, then great job.

Great job, that third run was very good for the first day. If you don't already have one, a short throw shifter really helps eliminate the sloppy shifts. I've got an MGW and love it. Yeah the speed rush is addicting and the best part is it's all legal. We had a group of eight last Monday up at Mid Ohio hitting speeds of 110 on the race course.

Oh yeah, get yourself a helmet too.
