what does the MGW shifter achieve? is it cosmetic or performance related?

That's what they mean by short throw. the MGW has 30% less throw or movement between shifts. makes shifting the car much more crisp and less sloppy.

Guys (and ladies), any ideas for mods that will NOT void my warranty?
I got mainly cosmetic mods done on exterior/Interior but engine wise was the Airaid 2 install... anything else I can do? Thx. Just purchased Xenon (4300) Fog lights set.. when it arrives, will be heading over to Jim's for an install
