And what exactly is the missing word in your description above? 2013 _ _ _ _ _ _ GT500. You mean the car hasn't, or doesn't need to, earn that NAME?!

You mean SHELBY has "sold out"?!

For SHAME!

I like Carroll, and respect the work he's done (especially in the 60s), but I'm not sure there's really anything amazing about the Supersnake other than the 750 horsepower, which you can get for 6 grand from the Ford Racing catalog, and it'd be perfectly fine with me if my car were called an SVT Cobra rather than a Shelby GT500, I didn't buy it for the lettering on the trunk.

"Speculation"gets OLD!

The OP was commenting on "actual numbers" in the title of the thread. Sorry he/she is dissapointed. If its not for him/her then he/she should find a car that excites them and join that forum. bye bye!

If you like a car, but it needs more power add it! That's what Ford has done for the GT500. They added more PSI (15 now) from the supercharger. Hmmmmm, maybe take the ZL1 to 12?!

2) Did Ford send their BEST and (ooops!) the result is what we have?

Why don't you get on your horse, head on over to MT's website, and ask THEM?!
Im well aware that's not how the mags usually work, but it would have made it a lot easier on everyone if that had happened. Instead we get a bunch of execs who trash talk to each other and people on the net speculating.

Nope, reasoning is as sound now as it was then.

So you're trolling, then? Or an I-I?

You mean the mags want us to keep waitin' for more test results, so we buy more mags?!

WOW! What a business plan! Good thing "Pete" Petersen isn't around to hear this...

And the Factories are fannin' the fans' flames?!

You mean "promotion"?! Say it isn't so!!

I can see that reasoning at work...you must get, what, 6-8 weeks of really good drivin' in, up there near Mt. Denali? Wouldn't a Denali be a more "reasoned" vehicle?

BTW, did you know Mustang #2 was shipped/sold in Anchorage, back in '64? FYI

Anyway, I'm not arguing what you're saying about the track prowess of the ZL1 vs the GT500. It's gonna take a lot for the Ford to keep up. I don't know everything Ford has in store to beef up the GT500, but things like using a carbon fiber drive-shaft are one example of increasing strength while maintaining or even losing weight are possible.

Ford has already stated that the '13 isn't going to be picking up any significant weight from the '12, so if what they're doing is going to be enough to keep up with the ZL1 on a road course is anyone's guess. We'll find out soon enough.

I will go out on a limb (not really), and say in straight line performance, the Camaro's gonna have it's hands full.
Yep, but as I wrote earlier I like my motorsports and other pleasures to last longer than 12 seconds

It's a PROVEN FACT that women prefer ROAD RACERS to drag racers...

It's ALL about laps...and duration...

Having said that, they MUST prefer MUSTANG racers...'cause they take much LONGER!

What else could they have done that would allow it to compete with the ZL1 in the turns? I don't know if the 300lbs. less weight will be enough to offset the difference.
The rear front control arm bushes allow too much lift and dive. A more solid bush would help a great deal at the direct expense of NVH. A set of six pistion Saleen style calipers with a 15+ " front set of brakes. Use a Ford racing third arm setup. Upgrade the bracing. Use a more advanced set of dampers or better yet Pedders Rubber, 305/30/19 on 19x10.5" wheels. Lower it.

The Mustang is a very capable chassis when tweaked. I really like my Mustang, but I really like the Camaro. I am guessing there is an IRS Mustang coming. They had a great chassis available from Ford AU in the Falcon. A Falcon based Mustang would have Ford lovers, those that like to do it in corners, gloating. Ford North America canned that at the last minute. From what I hear, there is no future Falcon and economically that will make an IRS Mustang cost prohibitive. Then again, maybe they will do a GM like Lincoln / Mustang program.

A 6th Gen Alpha Camaro will up the ante. The beauty of all this is that we keep getting better Muscle Cars
