Just a thought...I wonder if there are other GM vehicles that use the same front suspension parts. For instance, wasn't the Pontiac G8 built on the Zeta platform? Can North American GM Engineers talk to Holden Engineers down under?
Another thought...to you aftermarket folks...can you work with GM on this? Perhaps design an upper strut mount that is quiet and sell to GM? I dont' WANT to use the lemon law, but the basic laws of finance will not allow me to drive a $40,000 clunker. |

Final thought for the day...wouldn't it be cheaper for GM to resolve this issue quickly than absorb the costs of hundreds of guys like us bringing our cars in and having needless work done? I'm sure it cost GM a pretty penny to have my car for two weeks replacing parts and accomplishing nothing while I drive around in a rental.
There is also the good will aspect. Do they want Camaro owners describing their cars as "great except for the clunk"? I am baffled.... |

Put mine up in the air today.
Found one lower semi loose end link (right) which I got a 3/4 turn out of. Upper end link front right is tight, but spins slightly and won't stop spinning as I try to tighten it. I also found that the lower rubber mount was nearly completely out of the bottom of the spring....like it worked it's way out from under the spring. I ran out of time and had to put the wheel back on, drop the car, and get it ready to be driven to work. But, I want to get a 1/2 day, get the car in the air, remove the strut assemblies, check the lower rubber mounts to make sure they are in place, replace the upper mounts with the newly designed mounts, and replace that upper end link that spins and won't completely tighten down. We'll see where we go from there. |

The only popping noise I have is the crappy endlinks the aftermarket Companies keep making, when I have the stock stuff on my car I hear absolutely nothing. Not everyone has that popping issue.

I need to get to an air wrench. I can't get the endlink nut off. I can't tighten it or loosen it. But, I grabbed the endlink bar (upper right) which connects to the strut and man, was it loose. Fingers crossed this is where all the noise is coming from. I'll keep y'all informed as to what happens.

Wow....hope that's it "Tag Ur It".
I have my car back and it is as bad as ever. The dealer admits that there is a noise, but is unable to locate the source. On my first oil change I will check my endlinks and everything else I can get at with only a floor jack. Jeff from Cust Svc is getting a case going for me with GM. Hope that will help alert GM to the issue. There is strength in numbers...we all need to report this. |

Sorry - been out of town. I will post my work order tonight that shows the parts that Chevy replaced (strut mounts) that fixed all of the front end noises. This should help a lot.

Looking forward to seeing what was replaced. Hopefully it's just one or two parts so it'll better narrow down where the noise was coming from.
