The 'powerdome' is the bulge in the 2010+ Mustang GT's hood. The 2011 GT uses a very large strut tower brace which led to a need for improved underhood clearance, and the powerdome is how they did it.

IF the rustang has a 5.0 it adds weight. If they want higher quality materials, that adds weight. If they adjust platform/suspension/gearbox, that adds weight.

you saying the car will DROP 200 lbs is like Nissan telling us about how their GTR can really go around a track faster than a GT2.

And if it doesnt add a 5.0, then it will loose horribly to the camaro to an extent that would embarrass the whole company.

B. its 22hp, 45lbs of torque for less than a 100lbs difference between the two. If you dont think that matters, than your a good example of the people who will still make the mistake of buying a mooostang.

what the hell are you talking about? The 5.0 is supposedly based on the current modular motor, which means it will most likely be dimensionally very similar. it's an sohc aluminum block motor with similar dimensions that's .4 litres larger....that is not going to add much weight IF ANY. You are assuming that higher grade materials = heavier, which in fact most of the time is exactly the opposite. The mustang gt as it sits is multiple thousands of dollars cheaper than the ss.

I would really like to know how you think the new 5.0 (assuming it is an aluminum block/head 3v engine like the current 4.6) is going to outweigh an iron block 5.4 with 60 lbs of blower/intercooler sitting on top? A better transmission doesn't necessarily add weight either. You are making very broad assumptions from little information and some of them are almost comical. The camaro is not some godly machine like it was thought to be when the ls1 was first put in. I wouldn't expect the ls3 camaro to be much quicker than the ls1, if it is at all and bolt on s197's are in that league. Expect a good race. That's what you're gonna get.

displacement will be with the camaro; that's just the nature of the LS. its the best big displacement OHV there is. it will have good N/A TQ because of that. the way the mustang will compete is with an advanced smaller displacement DOHC engine which can make the same HP but less TQ because of displacement. the other way Ford will compete is to offer twin turbo engines, either in the duratec 6 or 4. they need to keep weight lighter and improve the interior, which if you've seen the latest interior shot, i'd say they've done right on:



Ford does have a 6.2L engine, the Boss Engine. for now, it is a SOHC engine and will see its first duty in the Raptor:



they do have the displacement, but they are going a different route with the 5.0 DOHC in the mustang. more to come
