I came across that same thread and read it all. I also found some other articles that stated the ZL-1 pump has been used effectively in 650+ RWHP applications. BUT, and that's a big butt I have yet to read where anyone has personally installed it, dyno'd it and posted results. So I too am leary of this pump since it's rating from GM doesn't support what my engine build is going after in numbers. I too hope that this GM tech can enlighten me and explain how this works and hopefully has some past builds with numbers to back it up.

I also asked him if I could video the build and the dyno and he said they are currently in process of doing this and posting it to their website. I don't know where it will be but hopefully at some point there will be video of my car. The dealership is Fairway Chevrolet in Las Vegas. The tech/tuner is a guy by the name of Samuel Smith. So if anyone else has any knowledge of him please chime in. So far though I have heard all good. The procharger guys at ATI ranted about him.

I'm looking forward to being a SC member and cannot wait to start playing with a 600+ HP Camaro. I love the term Violent as described in Padre's posts.

When it comes down to it, I'm certain I will err on the side of caution and if I feel like this pump insn't adequate, I'll have him step it up to one of the recommended pumps from this thread.

Peace.
I had Sam Smith tune my car. I researched some of the other speed shops in town and felt that he had the most knowledge in tunning these LS engines since that is all he does. I have talked with him about different fuel system set-ups for my car and he doesn't like to use dual fuel pumps because if one fails, you won't know until it is to late. I went with the ZL1 pump for my car, but I'm running a boost a pump also. I was losing 10 psi of fuel presure with just a boost a pump. Now that I'm running both my fuel presure stays right around 58 psi. I would probably be ok with just the ZL1 pump, but am using the BAP since it was already installed. If you would like any more info you can PM me or post in my journal.

BTW! Padre build!!!

Got my Carputer up and running today!

Visor fits and folds up (mostly). I took the 7" screen and split it (one part behind visor, other in front), then rebolted it, with just two holes in the visor.

Here's the thread discussing my carputer.

The 7" screen on the visor is a USB auxiliary. With Windows, I can set it to be the primary screen, and the one on the Netbook is unused until I unplug the USB monitor. I also set up the Netbook so that it remains running when closed.

I just unplug all the USB stuff and take the Netbook out into my home to play with tunes or install software or surf. Real easy setup.

I see what you meant. I thought you had a screen on each side of the visor.

Bring that sweet ride out here to Vegas. Temps have been in the mid 60's to low 70's and sunny.

Update on my car. The taxman was very delayed this year. Since this $$ was a big part of what was to fund my car it has put my build behind a bit. But, will be starting on the 12th of this month. I am going to start with a NA car like you did Padre and then work into the Procharger. Having it cammed, springs, lifters, CAI, possibly a stall/torque converter and a tune. See what that gets me.. Hopefully get to go down to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and do a before and after 1/4 mile run. Will be adding the procharger after I play with this setup for awhile. I'll be starting a build thread.

One more thing Padre, did you ever rule out whether or not the stall/torque converter gained you any hp? For racing would you recommend a TC?

Thanks again!

With the torque converter, I gained a solid 4/10ths at the track. It's more difficult to compare HP from one stalled car to another, but performance-wise, it's proven.

Good luck with you build! It's hard to be patient for me. I gotta get to the track! Maybe this weekend if the weather holds.

I'm probably just as anxious as you are to see how your car does now with the
D-1SC. Especially since my build will be very similar to yours. Low 11's? High 10's? Should be a pretty awesome whatever the numbers are.

I'm gonna guess 10.70ish at about 127-129mph.

Bingo. That's my goal, though I want over 130mph.

I'm sure my first run will be a throwaway, but once I get the shifting tuned in, 10.7's @ 130+ or bust!
