And again, how would this offer a comparative advantage against a fully forged, hand built DOHC v8 without deck plate honing? Is the lack of deck plate honing going to detract from the GT500's 5.8's performance? You seem to have missed the point.

What's the price difference between the GT500 and ZL1 engines for 2012? I thought I saw someone on here say the GT500 is a 15,000.00 engine.

What does that have to do with the comparative advantage of deck plate honing?

Well, let's see.. Let's say the ZL1's engine is 7500.00 and the GT500s is 15,000.00 -- whatever, I don't know the real engine prices.. I'm just trying to make a point on the honing.

One is forged. One is partly forged.

The cheaper non-fully forged ZL1 engine getting deck honing to increase longevity of the engine, while putting out similar power numbers to an engine that costs twice as much seems like an advantage to me assuming they're both staying stock.

the LSA is around there, probably around 12-13K. Don't quote me though.

Guys, arguing about how reliable the engines are is not going to get you anywhere. They both hold power, one more reliably than the other, true, but that has nothing to do how the block is prepped.

FORGED INTERNALS. The ford has everything forged, chevy doesn't. Pretty simple really.

ooohhh cool... "MYCOLOR" lighting. Kinda goofy. How about a rear view camera built into the rearview mirror, or a "headsup display" like a F-14 fighter jet. That's high tech my friend . If Ford was gonna go the "Track car look" route and take out power passenger seats and heated seats, they should have left nav out as an option too...nuff said bro

Still don't take this as a bashing, I respect the GT500...let's see what happens in the near future

In terms of internet time, that's like 8 months ago. Appreciate the effort though.

One point that is very much fact is the TOP SPEED. The new GT500 (200mph) has a higher top speed than the ZL1 (184mph)...now I don't think much of that matters to the logical "sane" consumer because chances are we will never go over 160mph anyway, even on a road course (unless we travel to a EUROPEAN TRACK). But kudos to FORD, that must've been some serious aerodynamic testing they were doing along with the new motor!
