Op you're a lot more comfortable with the outcome then I would be.

To be honest I think there punking us, we all know a catch can will not cause engine failure.

I'll pitch it in for legal.

I can't believe I'm saying this I'm really starting to not liking my car. Congratulations GM

I should've just bought a Lexus.

OP is ALL your warranty voided? In other words does your Catch Can void your stereo, window motors etc?

This decision by GM is unbelievable, I am just trying to see how unbelievable...........

All you conspiracy theorists think of this:

This post was all a ploy by GM to hunt out the truly loyal people.

Next time you go into the dealer for an oil change or just regular service, everybody saying "OMG GM'S LOST ME AS A CUSTOMER FOREVARRR!!11!1!!one!" will have their warranty voided for having the wrong air pressure in your tires! OOO!!!

[/trolling]

OP, I'm truly sorry this happened to you. Especially the part of the dealership DRIVING your car with no oil pressure, and further trashing your engine. I could only imagine what I'd be feeling if I were in your shoes, and now I know I'm even luckier to have a very mod-friendly dealership.

Still bad that GM wouldn't at least investigate the problem.
I can say this, my car was in for routine service at the dealer I purchased the car from and not a word was said about the Z/28 CAI. And trust me, if I ever need warranty work done I will gladly remind them how many oil changes they have done with that part on the car. Ideally at some point they will recommend a new filter.

No offence shibbs just couldn't resist saying that.

Has anybody been able to find the link for Ford denying warranty due to a catch can??? I can't find it but keep hearing about it.

I found Chrysler denied warranty on an aftermarket intake here:

That's the part I don't like... On top of that, by all accounts the dealership likely did real irreparable damage to the engine due to faulty diagnostics and then washed their hands of it and gave him a broken car and a box of parts.

I could accept GM's denial of warranty coverage for this one instance - fine, I would pay out of pocket or replace the oil pump myself - but only if the powertrain warranty remained fully intact. But in this case, at the very least I would hold the dealer accountable for the damage and the repairs.

Just don't forget .. It was the **dealer **who alerted gm and took pictures of the catch can .. I smell a rat and it's hard to know what the dealership actually said to gm for them to void his warranty . It's the dealership more than it is gm . How would they know unless they were told by the dealer

Not a true comparison, They didn't deny because of the CAI, They denied because they found a bolt inside the engine that LOOKED like it could be from the aftermarket CAI.
