Someone did their engine cover in plastidip and if I remember correctly it turned out fine and dealt with the heat fine. So I certainly believe the CAI would be fine as well.

I painted mine with high temp caliper paint. They've held up pretty well, hard to keep them clean with my rims lol

Agreed, 1 can is plenty. If you use more than one, you're messing something up lol

I used one can to do 2 sets of emblems, 1 set of tail light bezels and gill vents (Not a pretty picture) and some other things.

One can will be more than enough.

just ensure that you get all the angles as the chrome tends to show through rather well. I did get some advice from dipyourcar.com that suggested applying white to chrome and then add the color, it does help use less of the color but since they are a small area it isnt a huge deal.

After getting every bug know to man attaching itself to my front fascia on my trip across the USA, I opted to plasti-dip the front end............ vs using the tape........ works great!

And after SEMA, I'm going to dip the whole ZL1 black, pic above ,shows when it was drying (4 coats)

Oh, PD for the win! That stuff worked great on my road trip.

Gotta download the pealing pics. Most impressive to peal off 6,000 miles of crap that could have been damaging the paint. All that bug goo eating it's way into clear coats. Ha! Chew on Plastidip bug!

Here's just after getting home, had pressure washed the car 3 or 4 times during the trip. Could blast off the really nasty bug splats off the PD but the pressure washer COULD peel off the PD if hitting the right angles. Still extremely durable, had no problems with rain or anything else Mother Nature threw at it.

Cleaned and detailed, ready to strip off PD.

First pull, convenient spot where the stripe and PD overlapped.

And away we go....

And in the trash it goes. If I take any trip more that a few hundred miles, I'd go this route. So easy to pull the nose of the car and spray either with cans or gallon can method with a sprayer.

Note, there was a SLIGHT haze seen in certain light where the edge of the dip was compared to the un-dipped paint. Quick wipe with detailer and wax and no trace of the haze could be seen. I know people worry about clouding and clear coat issues, but none in my experience other than described and completely gone with a good detail.

Love PD.

Mike

Clear bra costs a lot more than a couple cans of plasti-dip
