That's kind of scary. Wonder what mine has floating around in it....

I think I'll just drive the crap out of mine until it gives up again. I've got about 7k on the new transmission but none of the problems (yet) that I had with the original one.

All of the metal chunks that came out were attached to the magnetic drain plug. The pieces were 1mm x 1mm x 2mm.

On the bright side the fluid does help it feel smoother. Hopefully it can patch up the pieces of missing gear that I found. Crap...

In Indiana they get 4 repair attempts and up to 30 business days to get it fixed. It varies by state.

The pictures turned out awesome. You guys are going to be sick when you see these pieces of the gear that are shredded.

Angry The Evidence

This is what I found after swapping the fluid after 1200 miles on my replacement transmission. Look closely at the pieces and you can see that they are clearly the edge of the gear, most likely 2nd gear.

To put things in perspective the drain plug takes a 15/16" socket to remove.

Sludge/Metal Drain Cap

After some brake cleaner

The fluid change helps the overall feel but it is still a bit notchy. If this much of the gear is gone after 1200 miles how long is the rest going to last?? The first one made it 5300 miles but I am babying it much more now though..

Ahhh, the trannie didn't need those pieces anyways ...

UPDATE:
Just called Aysin. They said finding shredded trannie parts on the drain plug is normal, that their trannie was designed to self destruct. (jk)

Ha, ya my dealer is going to say that when i show them this. The black sludge is odd because the fluid was still a clear yellow. The black was metal dust buildup on the magnet that washed off with brake parts cleaner. Im not a transmission expert obviously but this scares me to see this much debris this early on.. They are clearly the edges of the gears too (i wish my camera would have zoomed more :( )

Mobil 1 is giving a much more unpredictable feel. It feels much smoother sometimes and this morning with 45f outside it refuses to engage a few times.

Going to lucas oil next.

It crunch last night downshifting into 2nd gear after some spirited driving. I was slowing down to stop for a red light getting off the free way, it changed to green before I got to it, I downshifted and crunch. Rage!
