Wheel Weights

How much longer will the wheel weights be on the brakes? I thought they were only suppose to be on the early production models. Were seeing serial no.'s in the 5000's and they still have wheel weights! I was hoping by the time my car comes in the weights would be gone.

Some early Camaro customers noticed that there are weights on the Camaro SS calipers. With high-performance vehicles like the Camaro SS, minor brake noise is not uncommon. The weights act as a damper to reduce noise in certain driving conditions. This was done after careful evaluation and validation by our engineering team. These weights will only be added to early builds of the Camaro SS.

The last line says the weights will only be added to early builds - were in the 5000's
How many are early builds- 100,000?

These freakin weight on the calipers add weight to the car.

I'm gonna lose .00000000000001 of a second now.

Yeah, if they work something out down the road and redesign them I'd like to have weightless brakes. I'll let you know if 5463 has the weights or not tomorrow night, if I have access to the internet.

If you remove them* they won't sound right. Your choice but thats not the way that I'd go.

*assuming its possible to remove the weights without grinding them off

I will keep them on and note the count, (8 is what I heard?) and try to determine the type and how much they weigh. Then, I'll get some extras in case they fall off.

Hopefully, later they will have a permanent fix.

When I paint mine orange, I will just paint over the weights. I soooooo don't care if the weights are on it or not.

When I saw the SS at my dealer I was messing with them a bit. They felt like they would pull off and maybe leave a little glue behind (You can use Goo Gone to remove it). They actually are not solid, they move a bit when you push them.
