With all these bills slowly dying away, maybe all the hoopla will slowly fade as well. We can only hope.

Bills are definitely not dying away. Just delayed. The hoopla will never be over... hopefully the prices at least come back down. Bait and switch with the bills. I wish they would have left the whole package as it was and then voted on it....

Not sure if this has been posted. I just stumbled across it.

Best state for Gun Rights ranked from 50 to number 1.

My Alabama is ranked number 7.

http://www.gunsandammo.com/2013/03/1...qtbSEF0E.email

7. ALABAMA
CCW/Open Carry: 7
MSRs: 10
Class 3/NFA: 10
Castle Doctrine: 10
Miscellaneous: 10
TOTAL: 47

Alabama is not officially a Shall-Issue CCW state, but citizens are rarely turned down. Open carry is legal with some exceptions. There are no restrictions on MSRs or standard capacity magazines. Alabama has a Stand Your Ground law with no duty to retreat.

As long as folks remember how their congressmen voted on election day... and return the favor

Winchester .223 at Cabela's for .60/rnd! Still expensive, but prices are starting to come down!

Ordered my Sig P226 MK25 yesterday and I'm waiting for it to come in. They said it could take up to 6 months...

Of course if you take out the ties we ranked 5th. 4 states tied for 4th, 5 for 3rd, 3 for 2nd and 2 for 1st.

I would like to get more information on how they reached their numbers. For instance, how did we only get a 9 for our castle doctrine? Our state has no duty to retreat, and immunity from lawsuits. That seems pretty strong to me. I'd also be curious to see what was included in their miscellaneous category.

Regarding our CHL, I don't like some of the restrictions on locations you can carry. We're still not allowed to carry in:
  • Schools
  • Polling places
  • Most federal property (post office, IRS office)
  • Racetracks
  • Bars - If you're not allowed to drink while carrying then why does this one matter?
  • Sporting events - If I'm walking downtown from my car a half mile to a baseball stadium I'd like to be able to protect myself. Again with 0 alcohol...why do they care if I'm watching a football game with my weapon? Do they think I'm going to take a shot at the opposing quarterback?
We don't have open carry, but it is legal to have a weapon in your vehicle without a permit.

Only 36% of Texans own guns, or only 36% told you they own guns? I'd really be interested in where they got that information. Seems very low to me.
