Have you had a lot of good experience with IPS? It's not that far of a drive from Akron. I ordered a custom hood along time ago from them when I lived near Seattle for a 3000GT. I'm pretty happy they do a lot for the Camaro, but haven't gone down there to check it out.

I'll look forward to pics!

That's crazy. So far over my head it's not even funny. Seeing the wheels up like that when the shoot opens is freaky to me.

Rumor has it that's why Garlits retired... the chutes were trying to pop his eyeballs from the sockets

... I said 'rumor'

edit: guess it's sort of true...

But it was during the process of preparing for this comeback, during shakedown runs with his new Swamp Rat 32 Top Fuel dragster at Gainesville Raceway, that he suffered irreversible damage to both eyes. Severe deceleration during a two-parachute stop caused the retinas to detach.

That happened to Joe Amato too. The body can have a 12g swing in milliseconds. (From +6g's to -6 g's right at the stripe) Cory Mac showed the black and blue bruises he had from his safety harness. It looked like someone painted his chest right where the belts hit... Ouch !!

Best of luck in getting your car(s) back in a timely manner...

I knew it was violent, but am amazed at the numbers. A range of 12 G can cause blackouts.. Do they wear G suits?

If you have not impacted the ground by then. Thats a whole bunch of Gs!!!!!!

The F-16 has its seat canted 30deg from vertical to lessen the vertical axis the Gs act on.

Not at this time, only HANS devices. Don Garlits stopped racing because of blacking out.

Yeah, knew Bull would have the facts on fighters...

Top Fuel and Funny Car G's are completely lateral in the fore and aft direction.

We used to get some wicked vertical (instantaneous, not like Bull's long duration) G's during offshore boat races. They had one boat off of Cocoa Beach Florida years ago where a v-hull hit a rogue wave very wrong. The 3 occupants were in stand-up bolsters. It shocked so hard (cracked the hull and eventually sank) that it broke all of their ankles. Not cool...
:(
