Well, I reserved a spot. I don't have any other Camaro road trips scheduled. I've toured the Toyota plant in Princeton and it was a very cool experience. It'll be interesting to see if GM does it differently. I went to the SIX reveal and Chevy does a great job at these things. I'm sure it will be worthwhile.

No, I can't make it Thursday. Thinking of going Friday morning for the cars and coffee event

Hello Camaro 5th Gen lovers and Happy New Year. My vert will be 3 years old in March--hard to believe. I took her out yesterday for the second day in a row just to get some fresh gas and get the oil hot. Winter has not quite set in yet so dry 50 degree days are good for shakedown runs. Yes, she still drives beautifully, and sounds great!

I went to the auto show last week, primarily to begin looking at vehicles for my 24 yo daughter's first car of her own. She likes the mini-utes ala RAV4, CRV etc., but likes the Mazda CX-5 best-a good choice IMNSHO as it recently bested those guys in a Motor Trend comparo.

Anyway, while I've seen the SIX several times, I had never sat in it. I now know that I simply don't fit well in the smaller cockpit. GOOD! Now, any temptation for a new ZL1 or other such nonsense is permanently dismissed. Also, I have to say I love the new Denali (Tahoe not so much-they have different seats among other things) but the $70K+ price tag is more than a little off-putting.

I get to break up winter with 12 days in Naples first of Feb and a week in Tucson in March and by then we'll be getting occasional vert days so, here's to a quick, safe and healthy winter.

Yes - good to hear from you again! Did you make any further engine mods beyond headers + tune?

No, if you also count air intake, TB and catch can. Since I've had these mods for three driving seasons of approximately 10,000 miles total, let me offer the following observations....

+I spent about $3K on this pretty routine bolton package. I realized 44hp And 34 lb/ft at the rear wheels. That's $68/hp (not sure if that's good or bad). Driveability was much improved via throttle response and much of the torque improvement <3000 rpm. TY C5 for the direction resulting in perfect mods.
+I am very pleased with the sound, I wouldn't want it louder.
+This is a convertible i.e., a cruiser not a race car.
+I am now 62 yo so.....

I am completely satisfied with where the car is now. The modified LS3 makes about 480 at the crank so more than a stock SIX. It is driveable, reliable and can flip from stealthy to hooligan at the push of your right foot. I can get in all the trouble I want with the car as it is. However, if I do another mod, it would be to try the 3.91 1LE rear gear.

You are making good power with just headers and a tune. Your story was my inspiration for how I modded my car (then I got the Whipple ) Enjoy!

Funny, I was just reading about Whipple today. They just introduced their 2.9 for SIX and are claiming 600/630 rwhp. Impressive. But as a 'glass-half-empty' guy , I wonder about any downside such as excessive whine, even worse gas mileage, reliability. I can understand an addition of 50 hp not breaking anything but another 150???

I've got a 2.9L Whipple on my 5th Gen with Headers, CAI, Whipple and a Tune. My car made 587HP (just over 600 after another tune). The nice thing about the Whipple on the stock pulley (4") is that it runs low RPM relative to an LSA - in short, not much whine. Simply put, the power is awesome. Gas mileage not so much: 13-17 mpg.

70 degree February day means fresh gas, new motor oil and top down cruisin! I'm even starting to think about giving her a bath.

Well, I finally got motivated. She cleaned up pretty good for having sat dirty all winter. These will be the only top up photos this year!
