ABL (ambient lighting) limited to the doors only?

I changed my order from a 2SS to a 1SS at this point. I guess GM has helped me save some money. I did order the Boston Acoustics separate though as my only option.

by the way, for the ones saying that GM never said anything about it going across the dash, this is the picture taken from the GM WEBSITE. If you go to the Camaro website and on the main page, click on the last picture. It is STILL there.

I think after a day or two this news will sink in and everyone will calm down. Just like we did after the delay.

What can GM expect after showing us a startup video of the interior with what it was supposed to look like. They mysteriously took that video down a few months later, perhaps anticipating then this problem. Who knows at this point? What is troubling is the Ford GT500KR has ambient lighting on the dash and it doesn['t seem to cause any problems with those people who own them.

And I did switch from 2SS to 1SS because of this as that was the only reason I had placed the order for it(well, and the 4 gauge cluster). I do not want to be reminded everyday I'm in the car that something is missing when I turn it on.. At the very least for people ordering the Inferno Orange Interior package, it is going to look funny as well having orange lit doors only, better to have nothing at all lit up, just the gauges like in every other car..

Did you try placing aluminum foil behind the LED's as heat cannot pass thru that???

This solved the problem in an Orange County Choppers episode where Billy Bob was burning his but on the motorcycle seat on a long roadtrip. They simply placed aluminum foil underneath the seat and problem solved..

It's not going to happen like this...this is what's up:

Either

A.) GM is tired of hearing us bitch about ABL so they put out a BS announcement just to sit back and laugh at threads like this

or

B.) The ABL on the "doors" is not what everyone is thinking, but a new...different type of light (i.e. illuminating door handle, etc)

Be realistic guys...they aren't going to make the dash strip cloth and have acrylic panels on doors, it makes no sense any way you look at it. First off, the dash would have been priority...second off it would just look silly (and NOTHING like that chopped picture that keeps getting quoted...the blue glow would not "fade" into center like shown because the cloth would not reflect and there would be no glow on top of dash to balance it)

5 years of R&D they aren't going to do that...THINK about it.
