Not much. General Motors is very busy ignoring the petition. OP is trying to get his car fixed. I am sure he will update us if anything new comes along.

I am leaving the petition up for now... people are still signing and might as well be a PITA of General Motors Company for treating a valued customer this way. Then simply ignoring the 600+ General Motors vehicle owners who have signed the petition.

I mean really, if that is truly their (General Motors) policy, catch-can = warranty void, it would be nice to know for sure. A simple statement would all that would be required.

However, I guess it tales a LOT more than 600 pissed off customers to get any kind of movement out of General Motors. Should tell you something about how an individual might fare with ANY kind of issue with General Motors.

I wanted to share this from another forum. Not sure about forum rules and posting links to other forums, but here's the post.

"I just wanted to share a dealer experience today. It's not my GMC 6.2, but I brought my 2015 Corvette Z51 in for the second oil change. At my dealer you can walk to a block 1/2 wall and watch the Corvette specialist work on your car.
I was watching him open the hood and getting it ready to go up on the lift.
A little later he said, "Good to see you have a Catch Can -I like the Elite". I told him that I had wanted to ask his opinion because there is so much on the internet on both the Corvette and the GM truck site regarding their value or not.
He said he absolutely recommended them and started to describe what can happen if you don't have one, but stopped and said "hold on, come over to the bench".
He pulled out a couple of really coked up valves and said, "this is what you prevent from happening".
When I installed the Catch Can, it was because after hearing all of the Pros & Cons, it made sense to me, that it was worth the extra protection and added maintenance to take better care of the engine -so it was nice to have a Corvette specialist confirm, before I asked, that it is a good thing to do.
This is just MY experience and opinion."

Nice to hear about a good story and a knowledgeable tech that understands the Catch Cans

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:

Some customers may complain of low oil pressure, no oil pressure, and/or engine noise, which may be the result of a sticking oil pump pressure relief valve. In some instances, this may occur intermittently if the valve frees up when the engine cools down.
Recommendation/Instructions:

If SI diagnosis isolates low mechanical oil pressure at the oil filter housing and oil pressure sensor, replace the oil pump, flush the oil cooler lines (if equipped), clean the inside of the oil pan, change the oil and filter, and re-evaluate the concern.

Notice: If an engine noise is noticed after replacing the oil pump, follow the SI diagnosis and repair the engine as necessary.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

I guess they forgot to add Catch Can as culprit in that explanation, back in 2009?
What really bugs me is that so many different engines and car models could have been affected (effected?) by the oil pump relief valve getting seized and it's still not a TSB. I know it's old but what's required to take this from a PIP to a TSB?

A similar issue happened with valve springs. The LS3 was among a good number of engines that could have had valve spring issues (and there are reported cases). This issue is also a PIP, not a TSB.

Both situations can result in a trashed motor, why aren't either of these a TSB? Seems like GM really doesn't want to help out the customer with both of these.

Maybe people's lives need to be at risk for it to be a TSB a la the stupid key recall. (sarcasm)

Modding your PCV system is the same thing as deleting your cats.

If you change any part of PCV you technically speaking have committed a federal crime, which usually for this results in a fine.

The point i am trying to make is that this would be a easy case for GM because the OP has committed a federal crime.

guys please just google what i am saying, its really not a hard concept to understand. If i was a lawyer it would be so easy to tell the court the OP has changed a finely tuned emission control device.

When money is on the line, they will try everything they can to win the case.
We'll I guess I'm a gangster from long ago. First thing I did with my new '81 Z28 was to remove all the smog crap, added a new intake, Holley carb, headers, etc. I also was about two thousand miles out of warranty, but changing the odometer back three thousand miles fixed that. Car got covered. Such simple times back then.

I see you're more of a Gotti style gangster, not the old school quiet type. Do the deed, then blab about it.

Here is the guy that is most likely responsible for making a big deal out of the catch can. Head of Sterling Auto Group Service Dept. Added to the petition.
